He apparently has a subplot with Loomis in the novelization. That actor is great. Like Buck Flower, he played hobos a lot. In that crappy 80s TV movie Bates Motel, he actually played a hobo with Buck.

I wish I had bought the novelizations of all those movies, back when they were still showing up in used book stores. It drives me crazy to think that at some point I probably picked up a copy of every one of those books, in some book store, and held it in my hands... ACTUALLY HELD IT IN MY HANDS!!! EACH AND EVERY SINGLE BOOK (probably)!! but CHOSE not to spend the three or four dollars that they would have cost at that time. Now they go for a bleep of a lot more money, at the Amazon.com affiliated sellers.

Another thought about Rev. Sayer: I posted a comment under a Youtube video of that scene, with what was probably one of the coolest thoughts I have had in a long time, in a way. I'm expanding it slightly here, but basically I said that it would have been great if they had ended the movie somehow with Rev. Sayer and Dr. Loomis driving off together in Sayer's battered old (really old) car, and one of them had turned to the other and said the closing line from Casablanca, "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship," and then they drove off into the sunset together, looking for new forces of evil to do battle with. Actually, driving off into the sunRISE together would make more sense, considering that these movies usually end with a scene late at night.

OK, this is getting ridiculous, but, one more thought: I just noticed that Rev. Sayer's car's license plate says AMEN. That's awesome. It can be seen here, from :59 to 1:12.

I wasn't aware of the novelizations when they were relevant, but I remember always looking for the three books with original stories. I think they were young adult novels. It's not that I didn't have the money to buy them. I simply never found them. And I haven't heard anyone's opinion on them.
