Wasn't there a thread about this already? Maybe I posted something in the shout box. Anyway, I'm just thinking about this subject. Iron Man 2 has a LOT of stuff drawn from Lethal Weapon 2, especially the ending in the shipyard. Iron Man 3, which I have on right now, has a scene that is like a combination of scenes from Lethal Weapon 1 and 2. It combines the scene where the helicopter attacks Tom Atkins' house, in Lethal Weapon 1, with the scene where Riggs and Murtaugh destor the house on stilts, in LW2. I bet there are other things... I remember noticing a bunch of them one time, not too long ago. Possibly within thelast six months or so.

Anyway, had to share. Try watching the first two Lethal Weapon movies and Iron Man 2 and 3 within a few days sometimes, and see if you notice anything else.

Somebody made a video about this topic. I am having massive deja vu here, I'm sorry if I have posted very similar threads to this one, three or four times in the last few months, and forgotten that I did. I have been doing that kind of thing a lot lately, in real life. I hope I'm not suffering from some kind of dementia or brain fog. Anyway, here is the video, sorry about the ads at the beginning.

Another thing: it is possible that Iron Man 3 borrowed a little from Phantasm 2. I'm not sure about that, but it's possible. When Tony Stark builds stuff in that kid's garage workshop in Tennessee, it reminds me of a few scenes in Phantasm 2. Also, if you listen carefully to the background music right after the Rebecca Hall character dies, it sounds a lot like the music from Phantasm 2. Hd to share.

Iron Man 3, the "weak link" of the series, was directed by Shane Black, so there probably are similiarities in theme or style to Lethal Weapon. I've only seen IM3 once though, so I couldn't tell you more, other than how I didn't hate it. IM2 is also one I may have only seen once or twice. Apparently, it's one that's aged better than people thought it would. Some year, I'll revisit these...

I've had these discussions with you about the MCU for close to a decade now dating back to the HB. It's only my opinion but most of these films are overrated AF. General consensus was IM2 was the weakest of the 3, honestly I think they're all average at best. The only of these films I ever gave a 2nd view was Guardians of the Galaxy, Infinity War and The Winter Soldier...the rest are mediocre to bad imo. TBH I think the X-Men and Spiderman films are better than the MCU but not by much. Most MCU films I've rated are a 5-6/10 only cause they had good production value not cause they're films I wanna watch again and again. Box, I know you remember us having debates concerning The Punisher films on the HB. I will always champion Punisher Warzone cause
a) it's the only Punisher production that gets his origin story right.
b) Ray Stevenson is the only actor to ever actually resemble The Punisher from the comics of them all including Berenthal.
c) In these type films you need a good villain, Jane's Punisher has the worst villain in maybe comic book film history in Travolta...he absolutely ruins the film.
d) I get to screw with woke MCU Stans by correcting them that The Eternals wasn't the 1st Marvel film directed by a woman, it was Lexi Alexander on Punisher Warzone...bonus points!

I probably should have put this on Znep's unpopular opinion thread but here we are...rant over.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Infinity War and The Winter Soldier...

Definitely 3 of the better MCU films there with The Winter Soldier arguably the best of the lot although I have a soft spot for Thor: Ragnarok. That movie is silly as fuck but hellava lot of fun and much better than the other 3.

We all know I'm a strongly opinionated douche but I try to be honest in my opinions. As I remember Ragnarok was fun and better than most imo. I don't remember the 1st Thor very well but have recently rewatched Dark World and can say that film is a huge steaming pile. A lot of fans love Endgame and say after is when things started to turn...I disagree, Thor became cucked in Endgame and ruined his character besides it started the whole time travel idea creating this multiverse nonsense we find the universe now in where there is no accountability and anything can be explained away no matter how nonsensical. It's become utter crap imo.

Warzone is kind of a stupid movie, but I don't hate quite hate it on account of its level of violence. Your point (d) about it reminds me of another annoying instance of Marvel fans not recognizing previous/superior products when they were praising Black Panther as the first black superhero. Blade existed for 3 movies before any of this other shit, and is much better than BP.

Stephen Dorff recently took a jab at the MCU by rhetorically asking how their PG Blade movie that can't get a director is working out. He's shitting on something that his True Detective season 3 co-star is supposed to be in, which means he must really hate the MCU. emoticon

I agree on the time-travel/multiverse bit. It completely removes the stakes. Endgame was entertaining, but they've opened a whole can of worms with that, even though Rick & Morty and the Arrowverse definitely beat Marvel to the punch of the multiverse stuff.

That's funny cause the only 2 Marvel films I ever saw in the cinemas was Blade 1&2. Dorff isn't wrong, the idea of making a Blade or for that matter a Punisher film PG or even PG-13 is absurd. I love Warzone for the fact it's so violent, gory and over the top... it's supposed to be! I find it funny that an Indy film like Everything Everywhere All At Once could do a better job of a multiverse story in 1 film than Disney could do in how many films/shows now?!

Sorry for hijacking your post with my rant there Tommix. I see the parallels now that you have pointed them out. I haven't seen IM2 since a little after it 1st came out but IM3 I only watched maybe a year ago for the 1st time so it's a bit fresher in my memory.
