Just a quick thought here. I am watching Halloween H20 right now, and I'm wondering if the Jeepers Creepers writers and production people stole the idea for the Creeper's truck from H:H20. In H:H20, MM steals two vehicles. First, a regular car, from the nurse from the original H movie, who he kills in the first few minutes in the 1998 movie. Second, he steals an old... I don't know what to call it, an old farm truck maybe? The vehicle he steals from the cute 90s mom and her little girl, who are forced to use the men's room at that rest stop. It's a very old, sort of crude looking vehicle... maybe from the 1940s, or even the 1930s. It doesn't even make much sense in H:H20, to have him drive such an unusual vehicle when he should just be trying to blend in as much as possible. But, I guess the intent was to put MM in a vehicle that seemed spooky or creepy enough to match his style.

Anyway, Jeepers Creepers was filmed just a couple of years later, and the Creeper's truck looked a bit like the truck I've been talking about. Maybe they borrowed/stole that idea. They clearly borrowed/stole the idea of the Creeper sleeping for 23 years from cicadas, or from the Ray Bradbury story The Burning Man.

Anyway. Whatevs. Had to share.

Honestly Tommix, I would need to rewatch the 2 cause it's been probably 20 years since I watched them. I recall bits and pieces of H2O like a young Joseph Gordon Levitt in the intro and LL Cool J reciting bad poetry as a security guard. Unfortunately I recall even less about Jeepers Creepers, only the brother and sister being tracked by the Creeper while driving home for holiday?...but your theories make a lot of sense. I watched Jeepers Creepers 2 a few Octobers past and remember the Creeper killing the school bus of annoying high school kids one by one and enjoying it probably more than I should...guilty pleasure maybe?

Yeah, they are both old, not incredibly re-watchable movies, but I happened to watch... well, parts of both of them, in the last few months. I just thought that the timing would have been about right, if the JC creative people had seen H:H20 fairly recently, that that truck might have come to their minds if they were looking for ways to make the Creeper even creepier.

JC2 has its moments! I thought they did a good job portraying the sheer physical power of the Creeper in that movie, just the amount of force and lift it could get from its wings. And, those little artifacts it left behind were kind of cool, like the shuriken (sp?) with the belly button and that knife with the carvings on it... Also, Ray Wise made a pretty awesome Captain Ahab type of man-on-a-mission character. Also also, I liked the escalating tension in the bus, as they all gradually realized how completely fucked they all were. Also also also, and I should have said this first, Nicki Lynn Aycox was a BABE. Probably still is. So, I still consider JC2 to be reasonably watchable.
