This is probably literally the last place on the entire internet where I should be seeking medical advice. I know that. BUT aaaaanywho, has anyone here had to figure this shit out recently? Like, this winter? If you have spent time thinking about it recently maybe you have something constructive to say. Don't worry, I will try to double check anything you say, but if anybody has recent personal experience dealing with these things, here is your big chance to share any wisdom you may have... developed? Arrived at? Won? You know what I mean.

So, that preamble was longer than my question itself will be. Anyway, I have a fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, and minor aches and pains. Not REALLY bad aches and pains like when you get the flu, but definitely some malaise. So, I went to CVS and got their CVS version of Tylenol with acetaminophen, a decongestant with phenylephrine hydrochloride, some menthol cough drops, and their CVS version of Robitussin DM with dextromorphan HBr and guaifenesin. (Yes, I realize that I probably just set the Trash Epics website all time record for the most spelling errors in one paragraph, despite really trying to double check every word, but please hold your applause). Right now, at this very moment, I have ALL of those things pumping around in my bloodstream. As I was taking one of the last medications, I sort of scratched my head and thought "Golly gee whillikers, am I killing myself right now by taking all this crap together?" I'm pretty sure I'm not killing myself, but maybe I should spread these things out a little more.

Anybody have any thoughts on any of this? I expect a certain amount of jokes and abuse here, of course, but if anyone really understands these things I'd appreciate your input.

It should be ok. The only two I would check before taking together are the decongestant and the Robitussin DM. The packaging should say what is not advisable to take with it. Also, check to see if some of the meds you bought already contain acetaminophen.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you! I only took half the Tylenol (well, CVS Tylenol) dose, because the acetaminophen is something to be cautious about. I know that much.

By the way, please tell Troma I'm sorry for saying aaaaaanywho. I'm pretty sure that was on his list of words that make you say ki ki ki ki ah ah ah ah. I had to do it, no other word would have worked.

What you want to do is get the cough syrup that's only active ingredient is dextromethorphan hbr, drink the whole bottle, two if you really wanna fly, and trip you balls away, you won't even know you're sick.

I mean, you could always ask the pharmacist at CVS...

Or.....gargle Apple cider vinegar or hot water with cayenne pepper, for the sore throat, and then take two shots of Whiskey, some Nyquil, put on heavy layers on clothes, get the under the covers, and sweat it out.
