1) House With 100 Eyes (2013)
Neither bad nor great found footage horror in which a suburbanite couple attempt to make the perfect snuff film. Has its moments. 5.5/10
2)I Spit on Your Grave 3: Vengeance is Mine (2015)
Jennifer from the 2010 remake gets medieval on a fresh bunch of nonces in this somewhat disjointed but surprisingly watchable third installment to the franchise, that while not as entertaining as the first, is way better than part 2 which I personally thought was pretty awful. 6.5/10
02.10
3) Home Sweet Home (1981)
Cheese laden and pretty crappy slasher in which an escaped nutter wreaks havoc on a bunch peeps in a cabin. 4/10
4) The Innkeepers (2011)
Ti West's ghost story seems a bit of a polarising film and I can see why as it doesn't really go anywhere, but I nevertheless kinda enjoyed it for what it was anyway. 6/10
5) Blood Frenzy (1987)
Another cheap and crapola slasher about a terrorised group of desert campers, but elevated somewhat by a mean spirited tone and some sufficiently passable kills as well as a rather loopy conclusion. 6/10
03.10
6) The Watermen (2012)
Generic survival/torture horror about a bunch of Beautiful People menaced by decidedly non menacing homicidal fisherman, that despite having one or two nice gore scenes is pretty bland and dull overall. 4/10
7) Deathgasm (2015)
Hilarious NZ gorefest about a hapless Death metal band who unwittingly release the forces of Hell in this pretty awesome comedy horror. 8/10, by far the best viewing of the challenge so far and thanks a mill to Sdaveak47 for the rec.
04.10
8) Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2012)
I wanted to like this Aussie zombie flick and it definitely has its moments but overall it kinda got on my nerves. I can it working for others though. 5/10
9) Blood Mania (1970)
Clunky sleazy trash in which a scheming nympho tries to get her hands on her dad's inheritance. While not great, I kinda enjoyed it as every single character in it is a complete James Blunt. 5.5/10
10) Thirst (1979)
Effective and nicely atmospheric Australian horror regarding a young woman groomed by a secret society of vampires to join their ranks. Also, it has Henry Silva.
7/10, a solid little film and the first of what was to be an offbeat vampire triple bill.
05.10
11) Byzantium (2012)
Neil Jordan delivers a win in this unusual and absorbing slow burner about two vampires eking out an existence in a quiet coastal town in this Irish made but English set horror. 8/10, recommended.
12) A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)
A quirky little gem of a film in which various dodgy residents of the creepy Iranian "Bad City" are stalked by a vampire in this US made and shot in but Iran set and Persian dialogue spoken horror. Great soundtrack too. 7.5/10, an unusual treat.

13) Blue Monkey (1987)
Steve Railsback battles a giant insect in this daft but kinda enjoyable b flick. 5.5.10 (No trailer.)

The board is back in this silly but moderately passable cheese. 5.5/10

Oddball Fulci horror about a serial killer, which while not great had enough gruey set piece kills to keep me entertained. 6/10
07.10
16) Grizzly (1976)
Way entertaining and for a PG flick, surprisingly gory creature feature, in which a giant grizzly runs amok. 7/10, solid fun.
17) Psychic Killer (1975)
Another way entertaining flick about a wrongfully convicted man exacting psychic revenge on those he feels wronged him. If I was surprised at Grizzly being PG 13, I'm even more surprised at this one, considering as it's rather gruey in parts and has perky nudity. 7/10
18) The Rats (2002 TV)
Surprisingly watchable b flick in which killer rats terrorise New York. 6/10
08.10
19) House of Death (1982)
Muddled, incomprehensible slasher which takes a while to get going, in which a bunch of high school kids who all look about 30 are menaced by a psycho in an amusement park. 5/10, bonus point for one or two nice kills.
20) Tomb of the Blind Dead (1971)
Finally got to see this and found it nicely atmospheric with some surprisingly decent gore. 6.5/10
09.10
21) The Great Love of Count Dracula (1973)
Enjoyable Pual Naschy Eurosleaze in which Dracula besieges a group of travelers.
6.5/10
22) Brain Dead (2007)
Lo fi splatter flick which is a helluva lot more entertaining than it has any right to be, involving six strangers fighting off alien parasite infected zombies. 6.5/10, good fun.
10.10
23) Blood Voyage (1976)
Psycho picks off cruisers on a yacht in this not altogether bad but annoyingly blood free horror. 5/10
24) Thanatmorphose (2012)
A tattooed emo chick rots slowly when she isn't aimlessly walking around her pad naked and having sex with her abusive d-bag boyfriend in this extreme and extremely boring French Canadian arthouse horror. Good FX though.
3/10.
25) The Plumber (1979 TV)
Absorbing little psychological horror from Peter Weir, in which a housewife is terrorised by a weirdo plumber. 7/10
11.10
26) Ring of Darkness (1979) 4.5/10
Bizarro and pretty incoherent Italian Exorcist knock off, that pretty much had me scratching my head throughout it, although it does have a nice atmosphere and cool Italian style syntho score.
27) The Survivor (1981) 7/10
Absoribing Australian mystery horror adapted from James Hebert's novel and directed by David Hemmings concerning Robert Powell's sole survivor of a plane crash disaster uncovering spooky goings on.
12.10
28) The House of Clocks (1989 TV) 6.5/10
A trio of home invaders discover that a murderous elderly couple aren't quite so helpless as they appear to be in this enjoyable Lucio Fulci cheesefest in what apparently was one of four Italian made for tv horrors, which still doesn't mean it skimps on the gore or bewbage.
29) The House of Lost Souls (1989 TV) 6/10
Geologists staying at an abandoned motel become the targets of murderous ghosts in my second enjoyable Italian made for tv cheesefest, with LOTS of decapitations, this time from Umberto Lenzi.

31) Posed for Murder (1989) 5/10
A rather unglamourous glamour model is stalked by a psycho killer in this sleazy, but merely so-so slasher, although it does have a nicely ott conclusion.
CHALLENGE COMPLETE
14.10
32)The Sweet House of Horrors (1989 TV) 5/10
The murdered parents of a vicious home invasion return to exact revenge and protect their really annoying kids in this merely so-so addition to the Italian tv house series from Fulci.
33) The House of Witchcraft (1989 TV) 4/10
A young man has weird random dreams of a witch in this pretty dull entry into the series from Lenzi.
34) Knock Knock (2015) 4.5/10
Okay this is not a good film with an incredibly dumb set up, but for me it strayed firmly into so-bad-it's-good territory with Keanu Reeves giving an astoundingly bad performance that would rival Nicholas Cage in The Wicker Man remake. I actually kinda enjoyed it, even if it is terrible.
35) Lady Frankenstein (1971) 5/10
Nicely gothic Italian trash with Victor's hot daughter taking up where he left off, has its moments and special thanks to Morrison Dylan Fan for the kind gift.
15.10
36) Ricky 6 (2000) 6.5/10
Decent adaptation of David St Clair's true crime account of Satanist teenager Ricky "The Acid King" Kasso, who murdered a fellow teenager while demanding that his victim say he loved Satan. I'm somewhat familiar with this case and it's a well done job overall. 6.5/10
37) Witchtrap (1989)6/10
Enjoyable cheese from the makers of Witchboard, in which paranormal investigators run afoul of a murderous warlock's ghost.
16.10

So-so slasher where horny teens are picked off by the requisite psycho.

Moderately entertaining cheese elevated by some nicely effective and bloody kills, in which a Satanic cult run amok in small town USA.
17.10
41) Bells aka Murder by Phone (1982)
Dumb and talky but nonetheless enjoyable horror in which Richard Chamberlain's beardy gym teacher must save the city from a psycho who's killing people with specially constructed... telephones. 5.5/10
42) Blood Song (1984) 6/10
Watchable psycho horror cum slasher where 50s teen idol Frankie Avalon's nutjob escapes from a loony bin to terrorise a physically handicapped girl.
43) Murder Obsession (1981) 6/10
A film star who murdered his dad as a kid spends the weekend at his creepy mother's estate with his girlfriend and film crew, only to have them 'orribly murderlized in this incoherent Italian trashy nuttiness from Ricardo Freda. I liked it, even if it didn't make a whole lotta sense.
18.10
44) Blood Link (1982) 6.5/10
Absorbing moody (and well acted) horror in which Michael Moriarty has psychic visions of him murdering hot nekkid chicks.
45) Don't Panic (1988) 4/10
Pretty meh Mexican trash in which a serial killer is resurrected by ouija board.
19.10
46) Trampa Infernal (1990) 6/10
Moderately more entertaining Mexican trash in which mulleted campers get picked off by a creepy Vietnam vet with an array of weapons, including a Freddy Krueger style glove.
47) A Christmas Horror Story (2015) 7/10
A troubled family suspect their child is not who he appears to be, a documentary film crew experience supernatural terror, a bickering family invoke an anti Christmas demon and a badass Santa is besieged by foul mouthed evil elves in this solidly enjoyable quartet of interwoven horror tales taking place over Christmas.
20.10
48) Grite una Noches/ Scream the Night (2005) 6.5/10
Three high school teens are menaced by a malevolent entity in this oddball horror from Adrian Garcia Bogliano, which I personally liked, but could see annoying others.
49) Night of the Demons 3 (1997) 6.5/10
A group of punks who accidentally shoot a cop, hole up in a haunted mansion, only to be besieged by those crazy demons, in this surprisingly watchable edition to the series.
50) The Final Girls (2015) 7/10
Well this was a pleasant surprise and I would have rated it higher if it was r rated.
21.10
51) Howl (2015) 6.5/10
A bunch of commuters are besieged by viscious and surprisingly creepy looking werewolves in this undemanding and cliched (it even has a "We're all gonna survive this together!" speech), but solidly entertaining horror.
52) Goodnight Mommy (2015) 7.5/10
Twin brothers suspect their Mam has been replaced by something evil, after she returns from cosmetic surgery, in this slow burning and at times tedious but ultimately rather disturbing and nicely satisfying horror with a pay off that's well worth it.
22.10
53) The Green Inferno (2013) 7/10
One or two supremely stupid scenes aside, this was a surprisingly solid offering from Mr Roth. *SPOILERS*
54) The Torturer (2005) 6/10 (craptastic rating)
Hadn't seen this Lamberto Bava torture horror subgenre cash-in in 10 years and decided to revisit it after seeing that Morisson Dylan fan watched it and while not a good film, what it lacks in critical merit it makes up for in sheer sadistic nastiness and tacky cheese.
23.10

Entertaining Shaw Brothers exploitative horror regarding a Black Magician who casts evil spells on people for cash.

Dire incoherent crap that has something to do with Satanism and a serial killer... or something.

63) Howl of the Devil (1987) 7/10
The obnoxious brother of a dead horror star has his estate being littered with dead prozzies in this strange and decent little Paul Naschy flick.
64) Jeruzalem (2015) 6/10
Two American tourists visiting Jerusalem get caught up in the Biblical apocalypse in this rather silly and hit and miss but entertaining enough Israeli horror.
26.10
65)The Beast and the Magic Sword (1983) 6.5/10
More Paul Nachy nuttiness in which his accursed werewolf travels to Japan to take on ninjas, samurai, warrior wimmin' and a tiger, and the film still manages to shoehorn in some Satanic shenanigans in this loopy and quite enjoyable action horror.
66) The Irrefutable Truth About Demons (2000) 6.5/10
Karl Urban's anthropologist is terrorised by a murderous Satanic cult in this surprisingly way entertaining b-horror from New Zealand.
67) Tales of Halloween (2015) 3.5/10
Dire, obnoxious, unfunny, and messy little anthology with fanboy casting, lots of back slapping and a woeful lack of structure.
27.10
68) Hansel e Gretel (1990) 6/10
Creepy kids return from beyond the grave to exact bloody revenge on the rotten adults who murdered them and harvested there organs, in this enjoyable Italian cheese.
69) Bone Tomahawk (2015) 7.5/10
Kurt Russel's grizzled sheriff leads a rescue party of four to battle cave dwelling cannibals in this slow burning and pretty gruesome in parts period western horror.
70) [red]Parasite[/red] (1982) 4/10
Mediocre Charles Band creature flick, noticeable for having an unknown Demi Moore in it.
72) [red]Bloodline/Linea di Sangue[/red] (2010) 5.5/10
Moderately passable Italian horror which starts off as a giallo before becoming something quite different in the third act, regarding a spate of murders on a porn set.
73) [red]Zhong Gui aka Seeding of a Ghost[/red] (1983) 7/10
A taxi driver is cursed by a sorcerer and much insanity ensues in this pretty cool exploitative Shaw brothers horror.
29.10
74) [red]The Prince of Terror[/red] (1988) 6/10
Rather plodding Lamberto Bava home invasion horror that's elevated by an entertaining third act and decent set piece kills.
75) [red]Terror Sex and Witchcraft[/red] (1984) 5.5/10
Demented Mexican/Colombian Satanic themed horror that apparently began life as Narco Satanico in 1968, before being re-shot with extra footage in 1984. The result is pretty much a mess (60s to 80s fashion in consecutive scenes![royal]) but with enough unintentional hilarity to keep one amused.
76) [red] Human Beasts[/red] (1980) 6.5/10
yet another oddball Paul Naschy horror that starts off as a crime flick before descending into slasher territory, regarding his criminal who rips off the Yakuza and taking refuge in a creepy house.
77) [red]Vengeance of the Mummy[/red] (1973) 5.5/10
Paul Naschy's evil Pharaoh is resurrected in Victorian England and lots of throat slashing, blood drinking and head crushing ensues in this passable Gothic horror.
30.10
78) Mother of Tears (2007) 7.5/10 (repeat viewing)
I dunno why this one gets so much dislike as it's one of the most entertaining horrors of the past decade imo and had it have been made 30 years ago, I reckon it would be viewed in a much more endearing light.
79) [red]Blackaria[/red] (2010) 5.5/10
Alternately arty and splattery French Giallo homage, it has its moments and enough blood n sleaze to keep one entertained, although it's unbearably French.
80) [red]Children of the Night[/red] (2014) 4/10
A journalists uncovers a retreat of child vampires in this ambitious but ultimately substandard Argentine horror, that while having some nice ideas, overall falls flat, overstays its welcome and is rather annoying overall.
81) [red]Damned in Venice[/red] (1978) 7.5/10
A blind kid has troubling visions of the birth of the Antichrist, much to his skeptical and deeply unpleasant sister's chagrin, in this surprisingly creepy, atmospheric and effective Italian shocker/Omen Cash in that has one scene that would rival the likes of A Serbian Film (2010) in terms of shock factor. A pleasant surprise.
Hello - I'm new to this area of the Web, but I'd love to take part in this challenge. Will it be like the ones I saw on IMDb - 31 with 16 new views? I'm probably going to shoot for about 100 this month...
1. Dead Woman's Hollow 2013, 106 min) - This was a highly entertaining and compelling indie/microproduction. Directed by a friend of mine from college, this is a chilling true story of a series of crimes committed on the Appalachian Trail. The female leads are sub-par but the killer and the local sheriff are excellent. One thing that elevates it is the script, which is exceptionally layered in spite of its by-the-numbers horror/slasher take on events. Excellent direction places an air of tension and doom that hangs over the majority of the film. Highly recommended for completists and enthusiasts, just keep in mind this is a low-low budget production, judge accordingly. Stay through the credits for a post-script! 7/10
2. Halloween (1978, 91 min) - The original classic - now in Blu-ray! There's not much I can say about this wonderful film that hasn't already been said. The only thing to really comment on is the BD transfer, and the incredible, immersive upgrade to sound design. This thrill really reaches out and grabs you! I just got the 10 disc set so I'll be looking to make my way through all the films on this list. 10/10
3. The Amityville Horror (1979, 117 min) - One of the quintessential haunted house movies. There are plenty of haunted house films prior to this, but this film was unique, in that it was based on a "true" story, and did not rely on previous iterations of the sub-genre. Instead director Stuart Rosenberg goes his own direction and sets the mold for the sub-genre for years to come. I have only seen this movie 2-3 times but each scene is so iconic and well done they have been etched on my mind and I found myself recalling almost every moment of each scene as I watched the stellar Blu-ray release. The sound design is incredible here, particularly in the scenes where George Lutz and his business partner's wife are tearing down the wall under the stairs - excellent use of surround to create an atmosphere of dread that blankets even the sun-drenched early parts of the film. 9/10
4. Brain Damage (1988, 86 min) - Wow! What an incredibly inventive, creative and unique movie! How have I never heard of Frank Henenlotter before? Yes, it's quite rough around the edges, but this is an amazing movie with some rather stunning effects for its low budget and era. The drug and sex metaphors were over the top, funny and surprising. The social commentary is biting. The Aylmer (?) is one of the most unique villains I've seen in a long time with his Burl Ives-like delivery. The ending rather tragic and somewhat Shakesperean-in-scope, and epic as well. Love that it just ends cold with no denouement. Even the music throughout is well-done and used to good effect. Everything about this film bespeaks a professional, knowledgable crafting of the film arts. It is only a shame that Henenlotter hasn't done more. With today's technology, who knows what levels of depravity he could bring to the world? 8/10
5. Exeter (2015, 91 min) - This was an interesting find. An inventive if not over-the-top supernatural thriller, Exeter is an okay cross between posession stories and cabin in the woods style tales, and has a fairly interesting twist ending that I have to admit is pretty inventive, if not a little hackneyed. 5.5/6
6. Clown (2014, 100 min) - This was a movie night pick from the group Horror Junkies on Facebook. Eli Roth produced, it was a fun demon movie. I don't have much to say about it. Good scares, excellent metamorphosis effects. I love metomorphosis films like this, or Brain Damage. Peter Stormare offers a nice character role and the mythology is nicely built up. Obvious openings for a sequel left at the end. 7/10
7. The Visit (2015, 94 min) - Saw this in theatres, as a double feature I treated myself to along with Green Inferno. I don't understand why people get down on Shayamalan and his twist endings. I love them, and the twist here is a doozy! I won't give away any more except to say that the documentary style is well-done and doesn't have the overused feel that many recent "found footage" movies tend to, and the scares are highly effective when they come along. 8/10
8. The Green Inferno (2013 - Released 2015, 100 min) - After much anticipation, I can honestly say this film delivers on all fronts. There are a few interesting (and clashing) social messages woven into the fabric of the film, and the gore is as per Roth's usual fair over the top. Some highly unsettling scenes can be found here, this is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. The movie offered some genuine surprises and was the perfect cap to a double bill with The Visit. 7/10
9. Brides of Dracula (1960, 85 min) - 8/10
10. Child's Play (1988, 87 min) - This was a surprisingly good movie. I've heard many negatives regarding this and its sequels over the years. First off - nice to see the city of Chicago represented in a horror film, I never knew this was set in my beloved home town. It's a nicely woven tale, which builds its tension nicely with each scene. Now I can see why so many love this series as it is rather inventive and clever (at least the first one). I look forward to watching others in the series. 7/10
11. Re-Animator (1985, 104 min) - 8/10
12. Halloween II (1981, 92 min) - As a follow up to one of the finest horror films ever crafted, this sequel doesn't quite reach the heights of its predecessor, but I appreciate that it starts at the same moment that the previous film ends. As a result, it takes place all at night, and in many ways matches the tone and feel of the first movie. Michael Myers' mythology begins to develop here and it's organically developed in the script, rather than having a couple of exposition scene just shoehorned in. All in all this was a fun and surprisingly enjoyable viewing, as with Child's Play I had heard many negatives over the years regarding this film. 7/10
13. Masters of Horror, Season 1, Episode 2, "H.P. Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch-House" (2005, 60 min) - 7/10
14. Candyman (1992, 98 min) - This is one of my all-time favorite movies, not just horror. An excellent study in our culture's fascination with urban legends, Candyman is nearly perfect in its execution. Philip Glass's score has a way of getting stuck in your head, especially the piano theme played over scenes like Helen's research into the Cabrini Green murders - I love the use of the microfiche machine, the library trappings. This film is a thing of beauty, and it's a shame I'm finding it so hard to procure on Blu-ray, it's definitely one film most deserving of a careful BD restoration. 9/10
15. Masters of Horror, Season 1 Episode 3, "Dance of the Dead" (2005, 60 min) - An interesting tale directed by Tobe Hooper, based on a Matheson story. Freddy - er - Robert Englund is excellent as the MC, and I enjoyed the twist ending. Still falls a little short and leaves a bad taste - which seems to usually be Hooper's intent. 7/10
16. The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976, 90 min) - Before Michael Myers, there was the Phantom Moonlight Killer. This is an interesting, if slow-moving offering by Charles B. Pierce (of Boggy Creek fame) who details a string of murders in Texarkana in the summer of 1946. Before the term Serial Killer was put into use, the series of killings in 1946 (if the events of the film are to be believed) present a chilling study in psychopathy. The murders are presented unflinchingly, the brutal nature sometimes stunning. And in a piece of brilliance, the hooded killer is given a soundtrack that would later be used effectively in the Halloween films, as in some places the sound of the killer breathing in the mask drowns out all other sound. All in all a well-done film that would be worthy of any decent horror collection. 7/10
17. Don't Go in the House (1979, 82 min) - 6/10
18. American Mary (2012, 103 min) - 7/10
19. The Shining (1980, 146 min) - 10/10
20. Evil Dead (2013, 91 min) - Though not as good as the originals, this was a fun and inventive scare fest. The demons were very well-realized, with more emphasis on a "realistic" view of the various possessions. The film seems to be left up to multiple interpretations, with a surprise post-script that I'm sure many are aware of by now. Having just watched the entire trilogy, it was interesting to see how elements from all three were incorporated into this vision. It's great that for the most part practical effects were used, and it shows. The soundscape has a lot going on, and uses the surround field to great effect. At many points throughout the film there were noises and sounds behind me that made me look over my shoulders and check my surroundings. I love the use of air raid sirens in the score - really adds to the uncomfortable nature of this film. 8/10
21. Friday the 13th (1980, 95 min) - For all of my love of horror movies, I only just saw this for the first time about 7-8 years ago. It is a well-done movie for its budget, much less bloody than many would have you believe. I like that the relatively little blood and violence that is shown on-screen makes it seem much more violent and bloody than it actually is. The "less-is-more" effect is definitely in play here. 7/10

Brahs what is this mischief Fucento is up to on IMDB he is posting the "Real" October challenge. If that's right, then I want to participate in the "Fake" challenge, which would be run by Zombie CPA or Seth or Troma or whoever the fuck so long as it's not that incompetent Fucento. He couldn't organize a girl scout cookie drive, so it's best the manly work of an October challenge be done by a real man. Not a fake English girly boy.
I have never seen a contest cocked up as badly as Fucento cocked up the Horror draft this year. He's fired, as far as I'm concerned.
