I watched it last night. A lot are hating it, but I dug it. It's campy and over the top, but a fun satire of home invasion flicks. Also can't go wrong with Keanu Reeves and two hot girls, and he totally fucks them!
Well I liked Hostel and Hostel II: The Hosteling but that's been it for Roth and me. I did recently see both Knock Knock and Green Inferno, and I thought they were both poor. Knock Knock suffers from terrible acting and an overall careless approach to filmmaking. The Green Inferno suffers from terrible acting and a bloated, self-indulgent spending of lots of film dollars on a melodrama that's barely better than the execrable "Jurupyourassic World."
There's no point to the Green Inferno and no reason for it. Instead, just watch Cannibal Holocaust and Apocalypto back to back and you have it all the relevant ground covered by people who actually know how to make movies.
That said, I'm glad you enjoyed Knock Knock so that you didn't feel you wasted your time like I did brah.
Oh my... I finally got around to this one. Just finished it, and fuck... I've a few things I'd like to say about this movie...
Keanu Reeves, typically known as a wooden actor, gave a great performance. He did more acting than he usually does. The girls succeeded in being obnoxious twats. I seriously fucking hated them, and if I were Evan (Keanu), I would've killed them on the first night. In fact, I hated them sooooo much, I even hate the actresses now, and want to kill them.
The movie was very unsettling to me, and I actually had to tell myself it's only a movie, because it really is too much bullshit to happen to one man. Those goddamn evil cunts! Sure, they were hot, but I was really hoping Keanu would stab the living fuck out of them. Some of the most unlikable bitches I've EVER seen in a film. And I can't believe they took the dog!
So in that sense.... I guess it was a good movie, because it got under my skin. Not sure I'd want to watch it again though, simply because I hate those girls so damn much...
I've yet to see The Green Inferno still, but I'm glad Eli Roth has finally been directing more shit. I don't know what took him so long.
