I'm reading two. I don't normally read two at time, but since one is a film book, it's easy for me to go back and forth between the two.

Regional Horror Films 1958-1990: A State By State Guide With Interviews
Thank you to Psychobeatnik for making me aware of this. Really interesting read, there's films in here I've never heard of.

Guy N Smith's Bats Out Of Hell British killer bats book. It's a fun little read. Bats infected with virus are loose in England, biting people, and turning them into foaming mouthed psychos.

The Girls by Emma Cline

Northern California, during the violent end of the 1960s. At the start of summer, a lonely and thoughtful teenager, Evie Boyd, sees a group of girls in the park, and is immediately caught by their freedom, their careless dress, their dangerous aura of abandon. Soon, Evie is in thrall to Suzanne, a mesmerizing older girl, and is drawn into the circle of a soon-to-be infamous cult and the man who is its charismatic leader. Hidden in the hills, their sprawling ranch is eerie and run down, but to Evie, it is exotic, thrilling, chargedโ€”a place where she feels desperate to be accepted. As she spends more time away from her mother and the rhythms of her daily life, and as her obsession with Suzanne intensifies, Evie does not realize she is coming closer and closer to unthinkable violence, and to that moment in a girlโ€™s life when everything can go horribly wrong

The Gunslinger he wrote when he was younger- still in college, I still love the book. But my favorite of his series is The Dark Tower II and III, both are easily in the top of his work. l I'd put the second book in the Top 5 of his entire work. I also really enjoy the 4th book, which we see a younger Roland. 5,6,7 are worth reading to complete the series though not as strong as the previous books. He then published a more recent book, that can be skipped or read between parts 4 and 5, it's a story within a story within a story that actually is a fun fable like tale.

Thanks! I might try and get in a late entry, I do have some scifi flicks I haven't seen or watched in awhile.

I still want to read Marvel's Dark Tower comics, seems some is adaptations from the books, and original stores.
I do like how he has created his own universe of crossovers, what with Randall Flagg being a part of the series, and Father Callahan from Salem's Lot showing up in book V, and Hearts In Atlantis and Black House and some of his other work being part of it.

Hazy and smoky! Plus went out to my car at lunch and it's covered in ash! I hope we get some rain soon!!!

Love Duma Key. Probably my favorite book of his of the last 10 years is 11/22/63. Under The Dome was great, the series started out good then fell apart, it went from one of the highest rated summer shows to tanking by the 3rd season.

Finally got rain last night, nice going outside and not smelling smoke.

Been re reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series, currently on book 4, one of the longest of the series, I like it quite a bit, sort of a coming of age western with Roland as a teen.

Re read The Dark Tower: The Wind Through The Keyhole, it's a story within a story within a story, the wraparound for lack of a better word, is the gunslinger Roland telling his group another story about his youth, that story is set after the story of his youth from Wizard & Glass, a monster is killing people in a small community, so Roland and friend Jamie are sent by Roland's father to find out what is going on. Roland befriends a boy whose father was killed, Roland tells the boy a story that Roland's mother would read to him when he was younger, this is the main part of the book, the story is called The Wind Through The Keyhole.

Any ways, the wraparound is set between book IV and V. It's also good we get to hear about Jamie as he is mentined a few times in the early books.

Now I've just started on re reading book V: The Wolves Of The Calla.

What I've read since I've been gone...

Hail To The Chin: Further Confessions Of A B Movie Actor - Bruce Campbell - Not as good as his first, some parts I found boring.

Art Sex Music - Cosey Fanni Tutti - Autobiography, Cosey is a performance artist, musician. She was a member of Throbbing Gristle, one of the pioneering bands of industrial music. Great read!

Depraved 3 - Bryan Smith - Fun read, fun trilogy.

Christmas Eve On Haunted Hill - Bryan Smith - Decent quick read.

Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor - Matthew Stover - Fun book.

Sleeping Beauties - Stephen King & Owen King - Enjoyed it.

Re read... Fast Times At Ridgemont High: A True Story - Cameron Crowe - Always funny.

My Best Friend's Exorcism - Grady Hendrix - Really enjoyed this one. Thought it was going to be cheesy, but it wasn't.

Star Wars: The Courtship Of Princess Leia - Dave Wolverton - Another fun SW adventure.

Burnt Offerings - Robert Marasco - Finally read this. The movie sticks pretty close, but, the movie improves the ending.

Paperbacks From Hell - Grady Hendrix - Very interesting history of paperback horror (60's through 80's), broke up in different categories/genres. I like that it focused on the non-mainstream stuff, no Koontz or King etc.

Squirm - Richard Curtis - Novelization of the 70's wormy flick, fun quick read.

The Haunted Forest Tour - James A Moore & Jeff Strand - Loved it. Sorta like a gory B-movie monster movie version of Jurassic Park.

What Mad Universe - Fredric Brown - Editor of scifi pulp mag finds himself in a parallel earth. Liked it.

Re read... Usher's Passing - Robert McCammon - Fun epic family Southern gothic.

Meddling Kids - Edgar Cantero - Scooby Doo meets HP Lovecraft set in Oregon. Enjoyed it.

Dimension of Miracles - Robert Sheckley - Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy a decade before Douglas Adams came along. Funny book.

December Park - Ronald Malfi - Coming of age murder mystery set in the 90's. Really enjoyed it.

Myth-Ing Persons - Robert Asprin (Book 5 in the MythAdventures series) - Fun, funny, silly quick read.

Re read... Imajica - Clive Barker - Long, sprawling read. Great characters and settings.

Star Wars: Tatooine Ghost - Troy Denning - Brings the prequels and the post-SW world together. Leia learns about her pre-Darth Vader father.

Re read... Cujo - Stephen King - Hadn't read this in decades, definitely a darker ending than the movie.

Now reading... The Nebulon Horror - Hugh B Cave - Over half way through, I'm a sucker for evil kid books/movies. A small group of children are acting strange...

Now reading Rohan O'Grady's Let's Kill Uncle, the basis for the William Castle flick, though I think the movie kidified it more, I like how on the front of the book's cover it describes the two kids as charming, so far just a few pages in one of the kids calls a lady a stupid bitch, they've spray painted a bull, broken windows...

I started reading The Haunting Of Sunshine Girl, which is a spin off of a paranormal-reality style show on Youtube, I saw the film spinoff of the same show titled Sunshine Girl And The Hunt For Black Eyed Kids, which I mainly watched because it was set in Portland, OR. I liked it, found footage-style, fun seeing Portland locations I've been to, creepy in some parts. But the book I gave up on, it started out good, but the more I read the more it was starting to sound like a Buffy clone, instead of fighting demons, this would be ghosts, and instead of getting a Watcher, Sunshine Girl would get a Mentor.

So now I'm re reading Summer Of Night by Dan Simmons

Re read Richard Laymon's The Traveling Vampire Show, read Evan Munday's The Dead Kid Detective Agency and its sequel Dial 'M' For Morna, now re reading Stephen King and Peter Straub's The Talisman. I'd still like to see an adaption of The Talisman...just as long as the people involved with that hideous Dark Tower film stayed far far away from it.
