This is how I approach it...
1-unwatchable
2-watchable
3-good
4-great
5-classic

How about you?

Theoretically, you could import them. There wouldn't be a streamlined way to do it, but if you get me a list, I might be able to build a parser to auto rate stuff for you.

The way it's listed isn't much different: 1 = Hated it, 2 = Didn't like it, 3 = Liked it, 4 = Really liked it, 5 = Loved it.

I feel that a 10/10 system encourages people to nitpick more, so I went with a simpler system, so you don't have to think as hard. At one point, I considered having both a 5 star AND 10 star system, which would really only be one system, displayed differently based on user preference. This would require the 5 star system to allow half point ratings, and then it would all balance out:

5 star system / 10 star system
0.5 / 1
1.0 / 2
1.5 / 3
2.0 / 4
2.5 / 5
3.0 / 6
3.5 / 7
4.0 / 8
4.5 / 9
5.0 / 10

But that would require me to do math, and change my system from integers to decimals, then double everyone's ratings and divide the overall score in half for the 5-star system. And also redesign the interface for rating stuff, and that's where I'd have to think a bit. It's not too hard, but I'm gonna get drunk instead.

Fine then. 1=hated, 2=didn't like, 3=meh, 4=liked, 5=loved.

Either way, you're still getting the same point across. 4 to 5 star ratings have been around since forever. It wasn't until imdb that 10 star systems became a thing.
