So as many of you know Ballz is our new Challenge Moderator and I would like to fill a couple other moderation roles if I can.

Below are the Moderation Positions I would like to have:
Challenge Moderator: Ballz - In charge of the challenge host queue and ensuring challenges start and run efficiently. Also Keeper of the Trash Cup. (That's a title idea "Keeper of the Cup")

Draft Moderator: - In charge of the draft host queue. In charge of ensuring drafts start and run efficiently. Tasked with ensuring that all drafts submitted for aproval by hosts are logically sound and don't have any glaring holes.

Board Moderator: - First off this in not a sensorship role. This mod is tasked with making sure that threads tagged in the "soapbox" are supposed to be there and not in another board, IE horror or games and the same goes with the rest of the boards. I am actively trying to convince @Box that a more propper index on our home page with the boards "Movies", "TV", "Soapbox(General Discution)", "Games and Challenges", "Site Information", "New to the Site" and "Site Ideas" would be benificial and also keep this place more organized and stop the overflow of shit from rants and beefs from the "Soapbox" to the rest of the site. So, this moderator would just make sure people didn't put topics in the wrong board and if they did they would move the post.

These are the first 3 I would like to fill, well 2 since Ballz already grabbed challenge mod, but as we get more organized I would like to have individual mods for each board just so there isn't so much for one person to look through.

If anyone is interested just let me know. Also let me know about what you all think of the more divided index as a home page vs the facebook like feed.

I can dabble in a few designs. Perhaps a modular layout? See what you want.

Also, I don't care who does what, as long as they're doing something. I feed off of the ideas. I always figured if users wanted the classic forum index, they'd go to TEDb. If not, I can whip something up eventually. The stack never ends.

Oh yeah, and most of the "boards" here are either media titles, or imdb legacy boards, and most of those were pretty inactive and/or stupid. I'd hate to see them listed on a regular basis. But that's why we utilize multiple boards here. I think. emoticon

The thing about TEdb is that it has ALL the old IMDB boards and we only really need the like 6 I named. Maybe with a few sub-boards within those, but not all like 30 they had.

I'm just trying to help with both organization and posts having a place instead of just a scollable feed, not that it's a bad idea it's just that people coming here for movies or other things shouldn't see our rants and argument threads first thing.

It's unfortunate that it's become necessary to consider these things.

Ya, but it goes for polotics, rants, arguments, new site ideas, games, etc... those just aren't things new users or even most current users will want to see. I know you don't like phpBB, but I like their index system and with less boards and your skill you can make a kick ass index page.

For example this thread isn't going to interest most people, yet everytime one of us replies the whole site sees this as the #1 thread, but if it were done by board this would just be at the top of the "New Site Ideas" board.

You're right. This thread sucks ass! But we'll find a way to make it all worthwhile. Got a lot of stuff in development at the moment... and I still gotta work on the old new ideas!

I never look at the home page, so it doesn't matter to me if it's a single feed or divided. I enjoy being able to see all posts at once on the forum page though and hope it remains a viewing option, even if it's no longer one of the main options. It's a quick and easy way to see if anything new has been posted on the site as a whole, including the controversial junk.

I was talking to @Box last night and he has this idea for modular layouts that I'm really coming arround to. My biggest things I'm trying to possibly do are.
1. Take some of the administrative or moderative responsibilities off of @Box so he can focus more time and effort on feature developement.
2. Prevent Posts that lie beyond page 1 from getting lost, having everything in one place means a more limitted number of things can be displayed. If you don't use the forum this is especially bad due to being able to see the bodies of the posts.
3. Make a more organized landing page so new users will understand more of how to use the site and what to post where.

I wouldn't mind the forum staying as is. I also like the feed like home page. I just kinda would like a basic index as the home screen and then each board in the index take you to something that looks like our current home page feed, but filtered by the board. I just think our homepage may be a bit off putting to prospective new users, depending on the day and who is fighting over what. (Yes I know I'm a big part of that)

I agree, it's likely off-putting for new users to immediately be presented with infighting and politics. For similar reasons, I think we should also do our best to keep that stuff off the main shout box. A Soapbox-type shout once in a while should be fine. However, if it's something that starts dragging out, then maybe someone should intervene.

Ya it may not be a bad idea to have someone to remind people to calm down, but a shout box "mod" is unreasonable since no one could check it 24/7
