So Ballz will be the new challenge moderator! He will be responsible for running the host queue and aproving challenge submitions, not that I expect him to be scrutinous but no one wants to do the same challenge two months in a row or really in the same half year period I'd think, but that will all be up to him!

@Ballz if you would please make your own thread and make it a sticky. Other than that you have free reign over rules, regulation, time lines, etc... have fun and thank you!

Also everyone say thank you to Ballz, these kind of responsibilities are important as we grow and get more structured in some areas and we should all show him that we apriciate him being willing to spend time keeping track of this all for us.

Shit, that was fast. emoticon I have to get off of here shortly, but I'll be back later tonight and the thread will be made then.

No thanks is necessary from anyone. I just hope I don't screw it up and let everyone down.

A few suggestions on guidelines:
1. A host shouldn't be a new member that no one has heard of. Now obviously sometimes someone may join from the past that people know and love and exceptions can be made, but typically I would suggest a host either have X number of posts, been here X amount of time, or have particioate in 1 or 2 previous challenges. 1 or more of these help ensure no challenge ever gets abandoned by the host and that the host understands how what they are hosting works.

2. We have fixed AND varriable challenge. Obviously some months we will want to have certian fixed, but 2-4 months a year it would be pretty need to take submitions by prospective hosts and you choose the coolest sounding ideas. This will help keep things fresh and keep people brainstorming.

3. It would be really cool to have a circuit system, like NASCAR and other racing sports. Each challenge 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or what ever you choose would get X amount of trash points toward the Trash Cup. Each year a Trash Cup champion would be named based on who has the most points.

4. If you choose to adopt the Trash Cup idea, mini Challenges, like mothers week for example could be played simultaniously. This would give people who are too far behind in the month's challenge to get any Trash Points to pick up some more minor points. While the people competing for 1st may not want to take the time away from the big prize of the month, I think it would bring a nice harmony to the competition. Also mini challenges would give sub-genres and ideas that aren't big enough for a whole month to have a place to shine. Now I'm not saying scheduel a mini challenge each week, but maybe 1 a month or 1 every 3 weeks. But again this is all up to you!

I'll keep these things in mind as I work on my thread.

I love the Trash Cup idea. I might be the moderator of the queue, but I hope you'll tell me more about what you envision for it. Like how many points people should get depending on what place they get in challenges. And that goes for anyone else with their own ideas for new things.

I'd like to do more mini challenges, both during regular challenges and perhaps also months made up entirely of mini challenges. In fact, I remember you talking about doing something like that last year for February with comedies. Each week would've been a different type of comedy, like black comedies and rom coms.

I would think 15,10,8,5 would be a good distribution for the main challenges and for minis probably just 8,5,3.

And yes I did want to do that comedy challenge. Whether it's that or other sub-genres a month of mini challenges would be really fun! I'm excited about this!

Of course with those point distributions you could scale them by any factor, maybe 5 or 10 so everything ends in a round number.

And one other thing, I think a manditory rule for all hosts to have, a site rule if you will, is that all contested movies in a challenge are ruled on by the host, end of story.

Agreed about the contested movies rule. It's a rule I believe most people here already play by.

I'm thinking of making one post for the details of the Challenge Queue and then stickying a separate post for the queue itself. The post I'm working on for the details has become long in my effort to make it as thorough and as easy to understand as possible. It's just going to feel overwhelming and cluttered, especially once I start tracking Trash Cup points in addition to the queue itself.

Made the Challenge Queue posts. I know I'm the moderator of it, but if anything should be different, let me know. It's your idea after all.
