Ok so here is how I envision this working.

There will be 2 distinct groups in this draft and 3 distinct phases leading up to a playoff bracket.

Group One: The Drafters
Group Two: The Voters
Phase One: Population of Pool
Phase Two: Draft from Pool
Phase Three: Voting

The Drafters
During phase 1, the drafters will, in a round robin style, pick 8 actors each, 4 at a time. This will make up the "pool" of actors. Once everyone has selected 8 actors phase one will end.

During phase 2, the drafters will, again in a round robin style, draft 8 actors, one at a time until all of the actors are picked. Once each drafter has 8 picks and the pool is empty phase 2 is over.

During phase 3, the drafters get to sit back and be judged!

During the playoff phase, those who are advancing will then choose an elite team of 5 of their actors to enter the playoffs with. If a player advances to the next round of the playoffs, all actors not used in the previous round must be used. Once the playoff are over a winner will be crowned and the draft will be over!

The Voters
During phase one and phase two the voters have it easy. They don't have to really do anything, but can have fun commenting on choices.

During phase three, before the playoffs, each voter will get 3 votes that they can assign to any drafter. Votes can be split or stacked. Once all voters have placed their votes the votes will be tallied and the top 60% will be named playoff picks. The two drafters closest to the 60% mark, but under it will be made into wildcards. The wildcards get to participate in the playoffs, but for the "wildcard round", the wildcards don't get to pick their 5, instead their opponent gets to select the 5 actors they will be versing. During the playoffs, voters will vote once on each individual match. Ties will be broken first by the opening round tallies and beyond that will be broken by the host (who doesn't participate but does break the secondary tie). This voting process repeats each round of the playoffs until a winner is chosen.

Ideally, it would be nice to have 10 drafters and 5-10 voters, but I can build a valid tournament out of this structure as long as we have 8 drafters and 4 voters.

NOTES:
Deadlines will happen naturally as not everyone's schedules line up. That being said there will be a minimum 1 week viewing period between the building of the pools and the drafting phases. This makes sure both voters and drafters have an opportunity to know who they are picking. I'm thinking of starting this sometime in March.

If this is basically a draft of picking cool actors to form the ultimate team, then I can get behind it. This could be pretty easy. There are tons of great actors... and B-actors out there, that this could get interesting.

What @Box said.

I don't entirely understand how the voting works, but I always understand these things better once they've played out a little. Besides, since drafters and voters are two separate groups, I think I'd rather draft anyway. Thanks to your pool system, it sounds like there's the opportunity to fuck over other drafters by intentionally picking someone no one likes. emoticon

You said on the shoutbox this is how you "think drafts should go from now on." I don't mind the rules being changed up, but I also don't think I'd like these rules for every draft. Not every challenge has the same rules and not every draft should either.

Fair enough, I just don't want to see another completely unstructured draft with a mod who says "I don't really care about the KO rounds". When I heard that I was like, the fuck am I doing then...

I thought I made the comment that I wasn't really interested that much in KO rounds and thought drafting was more fun.

Some of us take it far more seriously than others, so you have to try and account for everybody when hosting a draft.

I wouldn't want to be in the voters camp. The fun of drafting is that all participants can put their choices forward

Exactly.

Good luck with finding enough of us who just want to vote and not draft. Although having said that, we can always call on the likes of bambi and willow..

Well with out seperate voters there is 0 intergrity and the draft means nothing. Imagine is players were also the refs in sports...

So did you ever play sports? I never played a game that matter, nor did I (or can you until pro level legally) get paid, yet I also never reffed myself. These games should be what ever the players want, but all games should be played to be won. Games are played to be won, trying to win is what is fun.

That is the sacrifice the host takes. Look if you don't like it don't participate, but you don't get to dictate how serious people take something that in nature is a competition.

Also Marcus didn't say I take it too seriously. He was responding to you and said YOU need to realize that some of "US", Marcus included, take it more seriously than you do.

You're quite right, I didn't say that.. I was merely implying it.

Well I'm running it so if you have an issue with me it won't be on this draft. Don't play a game and expect others to not compete because you don't want to. I mean seriously fuck that.

For example, the only reason I justified a vote for you over Zed in our 3 way was because if I had voted for Zed I'd have lost. You see how that destroys the intergrity of the game?

Ok so say you can't vote in your own. Imagine this, people will not vote for the better list, but rather the worse because the worse list would be easier to beat when you do go against them in future rounds. I have no problem adding people who have been eliminated to the voters list, but not while they have a dog in the hunt.

Also what rules/restrictions are you not fond of? You so far have expressed an issue with me not my restirction(which there are 0 restirictions other than the host not playing and I'm the host so what is your problem!?!?)

I have speant literal years of time playing forum games and things of this nature, I used to help run a site of over 1,000 users that did nothing but that. I have speant entire weeks on end debating game theory and trying to poke any hole I can find in game structure, with professors from MIT and some of the smarted programming and logical minds of our time. (We had a lengthy review process before new games were allowed on the site to ensure all games met our intergrity and logic standards)

Also I'm going to put a cap on the maximum number of drafters. Once the spots are gone, they are gone. Anyone else will only have voters as an option.

And there's also the fact the sign-ups for voters doesn't have to end until the 2nd phase is over, which gives anyone who missed out and is following the draft a chance to be a voter.
