I don't have too many ideas yet, but generally, I think it would be interesting to have a 28 day (4 weeks exactly) challenge where each week is a different type of comedy.
Maybe
Week 1 (Feb. 1-7) : Sitcoms
Week 2 (Feb. 2-14) : Romantic Comedy (Valentines Week)
Week 3 (Feb. 15-21): Dark/Black Comedies
Week 4 (Feb. 22-28): Horror Comedy

Thoughts and ideas are welcome.

I would be down for that, Der. It would give a nice change of pace to all the serious dramas and horror that I watch. I would possibly consider black/dark comedy too if possible - but that is just me. If I think of anything else I will come back to you. Nice idea.

That would be much better than stand up and would contrast nicely with the prior week of rom coms

It would give the challenge a nice balance, and there would be something for all tastes.

I'd join in. There are a lot of great comedies. I don't have any ideas at the moment. Seems like you're already covering a wide range of subgenres.

I need to think of some unique point perks for each weak. Like sex scenes in romcom, deaths in horror comedy etc.., but I can't think of anything good for sitcoms or black comedies (unless maybe just a point for each black person)

In regards to the black humour. Maybe award a point or half a point for each time that they make light of a subject matter considered taboo like race, religion, sex, politics etc... the kind of subject matter that pisses people off. Just an idea thou...emoticon

You will have time to formulate a system. From the outset it looks promising.

As I was working on these points, I did think of one suggestion: include sex comedies for Valentine's Week. I'm pretty sure romantic comedies and sex comedies aren't considered the same thing, but sex is part of romance.

Sitcoms
1 point for any sitcom.
1 point for no laugh track, because those are annoying.
1 point for black and white. Not as commonly watched and a carry over from the Black & White Challenge, if it's happening in January again.

Romantic Comedies
1 point for any romantic comedy.
1 point for sex.
1 point for visible nudity.

Dark/Black Comedies
1 point for any dark/black comedy.
1 point for black people. emoticon

I had a point related to injury or death, but Gym's taboo point suggestion sounds better.

Horror Comedies
1 point for any horror comedy.
1 point for spoofing.
1 point for blood or gore.

I guess I don't have many ideas for points right now. Maybe these will at least give you some ideas. If I think of any others, I'll post them.

I like it. I also think the base points should be somewhat runtime based, like
0-30 minutes: 1 Points
31-60 minutes: 2 Points
61+: 3 Points

So basically a differentiation between 30-minute shows, hour shows, and movies. Also since February is black history month, maybe 1 bonus point if there are black people all month.
