Truth be told - I really hadn't seen many of his movies prior to the October Challenge, except for a couple. I really do like his movies - the thick atmosphere that is present in many of his movies. I only really have skimmed the surface of his filmography. I enjoyed all of his movies that I seen - none disappointed (I didn't rate anything less than a six)

My favorite in order:

Baron Blood (1972)
Schock (1977)
Kill, Baby... Kill! (1966)
Planet of the Vampires (1965)
Lisa and the Devil (1973)
Black Sabbath (1963)
Night Is the Phantom (1963)
Black Sunday (1960)
A Bay of Blood (1971)

Obviously, I have a lot more to see, but it is a good start.

What is some of your favorite Mario Bava movies?

Any movies that you din't like?

I wasn't crazy about Blood and Black Lace, but I haven't seen it in years. Black Sabbath bored me, but I did enjoy A Bay of Blood. It was kind of a weird movie, with a wtf ending, but it was decent. If that's the lowest on your list, I ought to check out some more too.

I loved The Whip And The Body. The only one I've seen from him that I didn't find boring.

Top five, somewhat in order:

A Bay of Blood
Black Sabbath
Black Sunday
Blood and Black Lace
Lisa and the Devil

A Bay of Blood's easily my favorite Bava. Probably always will be. Really need to revisit some of his movies though, such as The Girl who Knew Too Much and Baron Blood. Haven't watched some of them since I got the box sets years ago and recall little about them. There's also some not on those sets I still haven't seen at all. My least favorite Bava is Four Times that Night, but it's not horror.

I liked Black Sunday and Kill Baby Kill the best, and Bay of Blood and Five Dolls for an August Moon the least.

I would say all of them, even the ones I didn't like, are well shot and well photographed. He had a real talent there.

I haven't seen Lisa and the Devil, Black Sabbath, Rabid Dogs, Shock, Night is the Phantom, and Planet of the Vampires.

Good somewhat in order

Black Sunday I think is the best by far for me
I Vampiri gets forgotten so often but I love it
Kill Baby Kill one of the few gothic movies that works in color
Baron Blood dunno why but I liked it quite a bit
Black Sabbath: The Drop of Water is easily the best segment and one of the best shorts I have seen, the longest segment was quite bad though
A Bay of Blood: one of the better slashers with at least a decent POV and the killer not just picking 1 weapon, makes Halloween even more boring to me.
Blood and Black Lace: good for an early slasher but the plot really gets in the way so it doesn't run as smooth, the chase scenes are very good though, great setting as well
The Girl who knew too much: nice images of the old Rome but the murder story is quite far fetched

Not that good
Planet of the Vampires: it's not much about vampires is it?
Lisa and the Devil: just messy
The Whip and the Body (ah you call it Night is the Phantom?): revolves around boring romance
Hatchet for the Honeymoon: same as previous
Shock: can't remember much, found it very boring (u seem to like the ones I find slow and boring)
Five Dolls for an August Moon: some kind of experimental slasher, fortunately he improved on that later
Hercules in the Haunted World: Pretty amateurish action fantasy movie
