As an Irishman, I am bound by patriotism, to support McGregor, even thou he is the underdog. I can't wait for this fight - it is considered the Fight of the Century by some. I don't consider myself an aficionado of boxing, or even MMA, for that matter. McGregor talks a good game, he is a tremendous trash talker, and he didn't get to where he is without being intelligent or astute - McGregor is expected to earn $75 million from the fight. He was on beneifts, here in Ireland, before he entered the world of MMA!

With all that said, it is hard to look beyond Mayweather for the win. He is 49-0! imagine if McGregor knocks him out in the first couple of rounds?!! However unlikely that were to happen.

My brain says Mayweather, but as an Irishman, my heart says McGregor

Anyone here going to watch it? How do you think McGregor will fare?

How will he fare? Prolly not good. I'm rootin' for him anyway, simply 'cuz I can't fucking stand Mayweather.

My gf says she wants "the hot one" to win. How rude.

Yeah, there is no shame in him losing as long as he doesn't embarrass himself..(I hope). I don't like Mayweather neither. He needs to be brought down a peg or two.

Haha...who is this "hot one" she is referring to?

This is an interesting one. I won't be watching it live, but look forward to hearng how it goes and checking out the clips. McGregor winning isn't impossible, I guess, but not likely considering he's having to give up a large percentage of what he has to work with. And Mayweather's just damn good. He might get lucky. I hope he does. He probably doesn't even realize what a big fucking deal he's gonna be if he pulls it off. But either way, that's a ton of money, and no matter what happens, he knows he could cripple Mayweather if he really wanted to.

I hope he does get lucky, man. It all seems too much of an obstacle to beat him. But either way you would have to be a fool to turn down 75 million for one fight. You are right, Mayweather is too damn good, I feel. It is on around 4am over here, i guess i will pull an all-nighter, damn.

And I'm sure Mayweather has been convinced to not take this thing lightly. Maybe he feels like he has the upper hand, and he certainly does, but he knows how humiliating it would be to not only lose to a white guy, but also someone whose not even technically a boxer.

In similar news, I'm now hearing Ronda Rousey has signed a WWE contract...

I am surprised but not shocked by that. WWE needs her an awful lot more than she needs them. They want to attract her and the UFC's fanbase. I don't understand why she would need to do that. I hope she doesn't sell out. I mean these things are always cringing, and WWE never utilizes them well. But then again, WWE have a bottomless pit of money, and can potentially attract these big names...

But that is just my two cents.

I'd have a lot more respect for her if she went to ROH instead, assuming they even have a women's division there.

I heard they're going to be working towards a match with Stephanie McMahon at Wrestlemania. And of course, it has to be her. It's not like it's a perfect opportunity to get their useless women wrestlers over.

Yes, I believe it is called 'Women of Honor'. It needs to grow. ROH has more potential to grow, outside of WWE. It never tried, not like TNA, it just happened. It would be massive news for them to get her.

I can't help but feel WWE is so phoney. It tries soo hard to fit in with this lame reality era. It sold out. The women wrestlers there are more like models taught a few wrestling movies to get by. The best place to see skilled women wrestlers nowadays is the indie scene.

Yeah. WWE's biggest problem is that it tries so goddamn hard to latch onto all that is modern pop culture, instead of just being the amazing wrestling promotion that it could be. And their fear of scaring off even one little kid or offending one parent makes it all the more frustrating. I've never seen any company sell out quite so blatantly, and then turn around and lash out at its ever shrinking audience for noticing.

At least they stopped calling the females "Divas", although, they probably never figured out why everyone hated that term so much.

That is the same thing that happened to "The Simpsons", imo, you remember when it was great in the 90's, but then it tried to latch onto all that is modern pop culture, and the viewership went down.

WWE are so goddamn stupid, they want to drop the "Divas" name, but their reality show is still called "Total Divas".

The only chance that will make the wrestling business popular again is if some organisation were to go "un-pc" like how ECW was.

I've watched The Simpsons probably once in the last 20 years. I'm simply amazed that it's still on after all these years. I'd assume people would have their fill of that shit well over a decade ago.

The only chance that will make the wrestling business popular again is if some organisation were to go "un-pc" like how ECW was.

I doubt even that would do it. Fans have seen that side of wrestling. They've seen every side wrestling has to offer. Nobody would care because nobody in wrestling matters anymore. At least nobody from the current generation, who can actually go. Wrestling really is dead. I don't think this is something that can be undone. Maybe it's possible for it to be more popular than it is. That's really up to WWE at the moment. However, I doubt pre-2001 popularity will ever be in the cards again.

I'll be watching, assuming i haven't passed out drunk in a corner. I'm a big fan of boxing, don't know so much MMA but have got into UFC over the last couple of years, mainly due to Conor's success making the sport more prominent over here.

The fight/event however you view it is fascinating. Almost all the evidence points to Mayweather schooling McGregor like he has everyone else, but 2 years out of the game and a speedy, hungry, hard hitting opponent has spinkled some doubt amongst the masses. Has Floyd still got the cat like reflexes? Will Conor land that knockout punch he's famous for? Or get frustrated and lash out with a kick?

The odds have been coming down on Mayweather all week, up until yesterday when there were two seperate million dollar bets placed on him. Mind you he's still widely available at 1/4 which for a guy who's 49-0 against a fighter in his first pro boxing bout is ridiculous. Reportedly there have been (in this country) five times as many bets placed on McGregor than Mayweather, but much, much more money staked on Money.

Being Celtic & British i should want the underdog to win, but i find it difficult to root for either - great fighters sure, but they come across as arrogant, narcissistic cunts. Let's not forget this was borne of greed, both men have an unhealthy obsession with wealth, and that belt....

Anyway McG will start quickly frist two or three rounds, Mayweather will dance about waiting for Conor to tire and stop it in 9th or 10th. Maybe the Irish heart will see him through all 12 but outside the slim early KO chance I can't see him winning. Nor do i think he'll lose his head & get DQ'd, most people didn't think he would make the weight but he's proved he's be nothing if not professional. Win or lose, Next up Paulie Magginaggi on St Patrick's Day next year!

Yeah, Mayweather is hot favorite, and rightly so. I think McGregor will fly out of the trap, but I feel Mayweather will be experienced enough to handle that, or will he? McGregor needs to keep his head about him and not do anything stupid. He will become frustrated. I don't see Mayweather KO McGregor IMO. I would be shocked if McGregor knocks him out, even thou he could very well. I feel if McGregor is to win, that is his only way

I placed a bet on McGregor at 7/2 with Paddy Power. I would look like a fool if I hadn't and he won, right?

You are right, Foz. Nothing but greed. How much is enough money? You can't bring it with you when you die.

Did you see that footage of McGregor seemingly flattening Paulie Magginaggi ?

I don't know if I should stay awake all night for it, or go to bed early-ish emoticon

All said, and done, I think McG has as much chance as a snowball in a microwave!

Here is a funny clip of McG and Floyd Snr (the father) finghting at press conference.

haha, funny clip, he is a great trash talker as you mentioned. Whatever the outcome, to go from benefits & 300euro fights in front of a handful of people 5 years ago to $70+m with over 4 million PPViewrs isn't bad.

A few of us are going to watch it at a friend's house (he has a projector) gonna be a messy night/morning. Which will be paid for by a large bet on Pretty Boy Floyd, i hope...
