I have no idea when I saw the first X-Men movie, but I do know it was at least ten years. So I figured it was about time to watch the next in the series.Basically, everything I know about the X-Men is what was in the movies. So I didn't go in to either movie with preconceived notions about who and what they are. It's an enjoyable film, with a lot of action, interesting story, and really well done effects. I especially liked Jean Grey's struggles, and Nightcrawler is an interesting character as well. And of course Storm and Mystique.Getting some background on Wolverine's origin was good to have as well (even if it isn't canon), especially for someone who knows next to nothing about the characters.

X2 is probably the best of the original trilogy, but that's not saying much. They went a bit wild with the liberties and made something that vaguely resembles the actual X-Men story, but by part 3, they fucked it up pretty bad that they made a new (somewhat related) series to fix it.

With that said, Wolverine will steal the show each and every time, but Brian Cox was a highlight. I like Nightcrawler, but he's such a loser in this movie (and the later ones). Overall, I can take it leave it.
