I watched this last night. It was nothing special, just your typical run-of-the-mill horror movie. It was better than the original, but that's not saying much, as that one was garbage. This one is just less garbage. I liked the retro feel to it; a throwback to the 70s. The acting was good, but there were some cringe worthy performances as well. The pacing was slow. I felt bored at some parts. The jump scares worked for the most part but the overall movie wasn't scary. It did have some creepy moments but nothing to write home about. It was better than the original, but that's not saying much, as that one was garbage. This one is just less garbage. 4/10

I watched it this weekend. I'm pretty sure it's meant for a female audience, but I think they did a decent job on it. There are some scary moments, especially with the little girl.

I agree, it's really really slow... it makes me think of The Shining, just in the sense that someone says their line, then there's a pause, then the next person says their line, then there's a pause... the dialog really drags out. I think it works though.
The older girl says "groovy" once or twice! It's probably just because it's set in the late 60's, but it could be a little shout-out to Evil Dead fans.

In most ways it feels like a modern movie, with a few minor things about music, board games, phones, etc added to make it be in the late 60's. They way the people talk just sounds too modern to me, like people who have grown up with decades of pop psychology and modern horror movies. Oh well, whatever.

Cool period cars!! They aren't too important to the plot, but it's always a pleasure to see cars like those.

holy crap, the priest was played by Henry Thomas, who played Elliott in E.T. (1982)!

That's what you know him as? He'll always be young Norman Bates to me!
