Ouija boards

by sfpx

Aug 2017
So I played with one over the weekend. And it worked. I shit you not. I read online the reasons why Ouija boards seemingly work, and I'm sorry, but there's just no way in hell either of us subconsciously spelled out some of the things it said.

What are your experiences with Ouija boards? Are you a believer or not?

I played with a Ouija board once, it spelled out "Brought to you by Hasbro, maker of this and other fine games."

Hey, I was a non-believer too. "Someone always inevitably moves it," I would say.

Nope. Not this time. I know I can't convince anyone and that's OK.

You are braver man than I am, Bryan. I have more than just a passing interest in this area - the paranormal. Ouija boards were all the rage in the 70s. A lot of these cases involve people trying to talk to the dead while inadvertently opening doors for other things. I haven't personally used an Ouija board, but I have known a few people who have.

You should try sometime, Brian. It's a lot of fun. Just don't ask it stupid questions that you don't want the answer to like we did.

I have given it some serious thought, but everytime I convince myself to, I keep remembering back to all those stories I read where people have had bad experiences. But I agree, it would be fun just to do, to see what would happen.

Never used one, but always been skeptically curious. I want to believe in Ouija boards and other things related to the paranormal. However, I can also imagine someone being clever enough to fool others around them into believing. People can be astonishingly gullible.

Care to share any examples of what it said that has you so convinced that it worked?

The main reason why I believe it worked is because my girlfriend, unwisely, asked it, "Is anyone going to die in my family soon?" It spelled her daughter's name. My girlfriend began getting very unnerved, naturally, and asked me to ask it, "At what age?" and the number it gave is just a scant 2 years from now.

There's no way in hell either of us would have done that, even on a subconscious level. It was very disturbing.

Another question my girlfriend asked was who I was in love with and it spelled the name "Jessica," which is not my girlfriend's name (lol). I don't know any Jessicas but my gf playfully asked me anyway who that was. We then realized the spirit, who told us he was a 5-year-old boy that died of cancer, was screwing with us. Earlier we asked it who would win Big Brother - the reality show. A girl on it that I hated with a passion is named Jessica.

We also wondered that a 5-year-old wouldn't have been able to spell some of the things we asked, and it's said that spirits (or demons) will pretend to be someone nice to trick you, so it's possible whoever we were communicating with is much older.

There was a few other things too but these are the most prominent that stick out.

Was it just the two of you then? Because yeah, I can't imagine either of you spelling out her daughter's name.

I've heard that before too about spirits pretending to be someone they aren't. Personally still not 100% convinced Ouija boards work, but I can understand why you're convinced. If it did work, sounds like the spirit was more playful than outright evil at least.

Yep, just the two of us.

Oh, crap. Remembered something else. When my daughter is getting ready for bed, the last few weeks she's been mentioning that there's a kitty in her room (there isn't).

The spirit told us he has a cat.

Of course you think that. That's why it's called subconscious.

I dunno. It kept saying some of the same things over and over, like "Be Mama." We wanted it to say something else. I don't see why we'd subconsciously continue to spell the same thing so redundantly. And our fingertips were on the planchette so lightly, we can't possibly have moved it.

I've never seen one in person, so I'm not sure exactly how the mechanics of the things work. But I have been part of a "seance" once. Some people were kind of getting freaked out even though absolutely nothing was happening.

Personally i think it's a load of bollocks, pretty sure there's not a single proven scrap of actual real factual evidence for any ever working, but hey you can say the same for about 4000 different Deities and that doesn't stop millions beleiving in, and killing for.

Plus they can be good fun, as teens a few of us made one when we satyed in a hotel during a school trip & set up a routine that scared the younger kids shitless. then a teacher bought it off us and we used the money to bribe the teacher's assistant to buy us booze. So I've had nothing but good experiences with them!

Sounds like you guys got the demon Witchboard 1986, seem to recall that sneaky spirit pretented to be a friendly kid n tricked a young couple....

I remain skeptical like Smerd said (brought to you by Hasbro). It's a piece of wood with letters, numbers, yes and no on it that could be made by anyone having the right skills. It's not some magical object. Why would a ghost only respond when you want to communicate with it with such kind of board. Could a paper drawn Ouija board work as well? Would it work anywhere you are or you have to be lucky to be in a place that has a spirit.

I conjured up a 10-year-old boy named AJ last night. It called me a cunt, that's right, a cunt. And not once, but twice! It then went on to say it wanted to hurt me. emoticon I love this thing!
