Kind of a weird topic, I know. But what do you make of this "phenomenon?" What do you do about it? I mean, you know you've seen the movie, but remember very little or maybe even nothing at all about it. Do you ever have the urge to revisit it? Should we even be bothering in the first place, since there's an infinite supply of movies to see? (as I type this, 15 new movies just came out.)

For me, the majority of my rabid movie watching was in the '90s up until about 2004 or 2005, and then I kinda got burnt out, got a life (yeah, right), and found other interests. So I find that so many movies that get discussed, like around here for instance, I sometimes remember practically nothing about because it was so long ago. Can my opinion even be taken seriously??

And the older I get, the worse my short term memory is becoming. Even a movie I saw maybe 6 months ago can be a downright blur when I try to recall it.

Are there any particular movies you can think of that you know you've seen, but remember nothing about?

There are quite a few. If I remember nothing about it, it must not be very memorable, so it's probably not worth rewatching. There are some movies that I saw once over 15 years ago and still remember, others that I saw a couple months ago and remember nothing.

The other day, I came across Naked Vengeance. It sounded interesting, so I looked it up, only to find out I had rated it 7/10. That's a fairly decent score I gave it, yet I don't remember seeing it at all. I even watched the trailer, and recognized nothing.

Thats actually a bit odd - rating it so favorably and even watching the trailer has failed to jog your memory. Maybe you rated it by accident?

Enter the Void (2009)...

I was out of it when I seen it. It must be 9 years since I seen it. One he'll of a movie from what little I remember. All I recall is this guy floating through time and air from his perspective after he died. Profound as hell. Gave me the shivers.

One of my most memorable amnesia stories comes from my initial viewings of "Humanoids from the Deep". I watched that damn movie almost every day for a week, because I couldn't remember how things play out in the movie. Of course, this was also when I was starting to smoke regularly, so my brain wasn't trained properly yet on how to remember things when high. It was still a fun experience to be able to look forward to the same movie every day, as if it were something you haven't seen, yet you could still vouch for it.

Yeah, weed'll do that. I think there are entire movies I've even forgotten I saw in the first place because I smoked so much back then. Haven't gotten high since January 2016. I'm being a good boy, or a very dull one.

For some reason, Pieces (1982). I've seen it twice: once as a rental years ago and then last year as part of The Last Drive-In Marathon. I couldn't remember anything about it before last year and I already can't remember most of it again. And I watched The Last Drive-In over the course of several weeks, so I can't blame being tired from the marathon. That movie just isn't memorable to me at all I guess.

Pieces is one of the most memorable movies I've ever seen.

I wish I could agree. It seems like the kind of movie I'd love. I only gave it a 6/10 though. emoticon

Were you on anything when you saw it? I agree with Znep. Pieces is highly memorable. You need to see it again, I think.

I was likely drinking something the second time. Since you two are convinced it's such a memorable movie, I'll try to watch it again soon.
