Stepfather 2

by sfpx

Jun 2018
Just saw this for the first time, oddly enough. Not too shabby. It's definitely more "by the numbers" than the first, riding that post-Freddy '80s horror bandwagon turning the killer equal parts unstoppable and totally quippable. The Stepfather is truly a real creep and weirdo. These movies probably wouldn't be nearly as entertaining without Terry O'Quinn's acting chops, though. And it's always nice to see the lovely Caroline Williams. Didn't she get the memo that the nosy friend always dies?!

Whatchu guys think?

I rented those movies long, long ago. Can't remember much about 2 and 3, but I see I gave this one a 3/10 on imdb. Figured I liked it more than that. Meg Foster's eyes are... well, you know. Horrifying. And Jonathan Brandis is dead. I'm pretty sure he killed himself. But if you fancy O'Quinn's acting, you may not love the next one. They got someone else playing the role, while using the old plastic surgery excuse. I kinda want to watch the first one, now.

Yeah, I was very surprised to see Jonathan Brandis in it. Had no idea.

Saw Meg Foster recently in Jeepers Creepers 3. What the FUCK happened to her???? I mean, I know she's in her 70s now and all, but dang. Looks like she got done smoking her one millionth cigarette.

Ahh, so there's a different actor for part 3, but he got plastic surgery? Haha that's hilarious. Very smoothe.

Meg Foster's been smoking something to get like that. Not so sure it's cigarettes, though. emoticon

she's having a bit of a revival in her 70s, was the best thing about RZ's 31

It's been a while, but I remember it being a decent, passable sequel, while the first is a minor classic.

I also haven't seen it in a while and it was only once. Don't remember enough to talk about the movie in depth, but I recall thinking it was okay. Same with the first.

Caroline Williams IS lovely.

Watched part 3. It was, naturally, the worst in the series, but surprisingly still pretty watchable.

I kinda wish The Stepfather saga extended into a few more entries. What I find so hilarious is how evil and vindictive and yet, careless he is, and how far he'll go in attempting to cover up his tracks.

Something not going his way? Someone getting in his way? Just resort to murder. That'll fix everything and surely not complicate matters. Hilarious.

Terry O'Quinn was sorely missed in the third entry but the new guy does an admirable job in his own, weird, way. I didn't think much of his acting at first and he didn't seem nearly as threatening early on, the way Terry O'Quinn subtly exudes that "creeper lurking underneath facade" so well, but after the first murder, and especially as the events of the film unfolded - The one argument he was having with his stepson, "I'm your daddy now!!!" had me cracking the fuck up - I became convinced.

Fun series overall.

I finally caught this on Prime, and while it's more or less a total rehash of the first one, it's still pretty decent. I might even like it a tad more than the first. Terry O'Quinn is as crazy as ever, and the supporting cast is good too.

There's something kinda creepy about Meg Foster's eyes. She just looks evil, even though she's not the villain in this movie.

Also, I liked the wedding finale. Too bad Terry doesn't come back for the third movie.
