This was a found footage movie I saw several years ago. I got it from the local library. It has the word Tapes in the title, like The Poughkeepsie Tapes or The Anderson Tapes. It's a bunch of young people or kids in a large forest at night, one or more of them with video cameras recording everything, and they think they are being watched or tracked. I think they were investigating some urban legend about a pedophile ring and missing children. Some of them disappear and the others keep seeing eyes looking at them through the trees. They start looking for clues and eventually find an abandoned house or ranch or something like that and discover some kind of feral half human creatures living in it, and I think no one survives. That's about all I can remember about it. There's been a ton of found footage movies but someone must know the title of this.

I remember a found footage movie kind of like that from 2018 called Feral. If that's not the right movie I hope someone here finds it. I'd like to watch it.

It's the The Levenger Tapes. It's on Tubi. I thought I remembered a larger group of people but there's only three. I watched it again and it's definitely the right movie. They rob a liquor store and then run into a truck during the getaway, and see a little girl in it they recognize as a known missing person. The driver and the store owner chase them but they get away and make it to their destination, an isolated estate owned by relatives of one of them. They see the truck driver again later in the woods and start investigating, and think the girl has been murdered. Then it shifts gears and gets really weird. I did a little reading on it and it got bad reviews, but I thought it had a pretty creepy vibe to it. Ending was confusing but a few things were done right that made it unsettling and somewhat scary. Anything involving child molesters has a high creepiness factor, and keeping the creatures just out of sight and leaving the true horrors to the imagination of the audience always makes a movie more scary. I wish the ending had been a little different. Watch it and see what you think. I'd say it definitely had a few standout moments. These three people do some incredibly dumb things (starting with the booze theft and the hit and run, and then to start following people they think might be child killers without first going for help), and that seems to be what ruins it for most reviewers. But characters in horror movies almost never make the smartest moves, right?

Maybe The Lost Tape (2012), directed by Rakshit Dahiya?
