I just saw Nightmares and Living in Peril.

I thought Nightmares was pretty good. No one I ever previously heard of in it except Briony Behets from Long Weekend, but the acting was mostly okay. Some funny dialogue and characters, plenty of gore, fairly high body count and a unique killing method. The ending isn't too surprising, but the ride there was decent enough. The setting and premise begs comparison to Stagefright (and that is actually an alternate title of this one) and I didn't expect to like this one as well (Stagefright isn't even real high on my favorite list) but I'd say both are about the same in appeal. Hard to say which I like better. This one has a certain charm. Stagefright does have that great owl costume though. And that drill-though-the door killing.

Living in Peril was also a solid 90 or so minutes of entertainment. I guess I'd say it's not really a horror film, but more in the home invasion or try-to-drive someone-crazy subgenre. Parts of it remind me of Pacific Heights. It doesn't go nearly as far as Last House on the Left or House by the Lake, but it does have some suspense and some entertaining quirky characters. The cast is also very good. Rob Lowe, Dean Stockwell, Jim Belushi, Tony Longo and Alex Meneses (Stefania from Everybody Loves Raymond). There's also what amounts to a cameo from Richard Moll (Bull from Night Court). There are a few killings but one happens offscreen. I don't want to give too much away, but Jim Belushi plays a very different kind of character than we're used to him playing. One last thing: Alex Meneses is so beautiful you might just come without even touching yourself. She almost doesn't seem real.
