FTVs

Moist Fury - Post-apocalyptic girl-gang shenanigans that's nowhere near as goofy as your typical Seaver flick and all the better for it. The downside being that the cast lacks a Josh Suire or Seaver himself to bring the belly-laughs. 6

Dead on Appraisal - Fairly fun gore anthology, severely let down by the 2nd story. It's not even that it's a bad short in itself; it's just such a downbeat and dreary interlude that it drags the whole film down. The 3rd story is awesome and totally mental, but the movie as a whole never quite recovers from the totally inappropriate nid-section. 5

Considering I get most (if not all) of my recs from a handful of people here on the site, I can't recommend anything too obscure, and I'll wager that most of you have already seen these films:

Cold in July (2014)
In 1989, redneck Dexter has a mullet and must solve a pornographic murder mystery with Don Johnson.

The Guest (2014)
Who is "the guest", and what does he want? It's Terminator meets Halloween in this homage to classic bad-ass action/horror.

Killer Joe (2011)
Matthew McConaughey as an ominous redneck in "A totally twisted deep-fried Texas redneck trailer park murder story.".

Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury (2011)
An incompetent racist action film starring Hercules from the '90s as our Vietnam vet protagonist who's out to reclaim the pool cleaning business from Mexico, played by Tijuanna Max (aka Danny Trejo).

Satan's Little Helper (2004)
Halloween anarchy! Funny, creepy, and overflowing with great atmosphere.

Spring Breakers (2012)
Disney actresses join drug-peddling arms-dealing rapper/gangsta James Franco in a vivid, colorful, life-changing Spring Break adventure.



Bonus:
Umshini Wam (2011)
A 15 minute short about eccentric, disabled gangstas in wheelchairs who cruise the suburbs in hope of becoming real gangstas someday... Full video available on youtube.

I wasn't going to participate because I didn't think I could rec anything anyone here hasn't already seen or wouldn't already watch anyway. But heck with it, here's another list.


She (1982)
I'm worried you may have already all seen this before. It's about a Post-Apocalyptic world with a wayward band of ragtag heroes wandering through it, on some kind of quest, and encountering all of the strange sects and societies through the land. Action/Fantasy.

Il merlo maschio aka Secret Fantasy or The Male Blackbird (1971)
Italian sex comedy starring Laura Antonelli featuring the infamous image of her fine-ass body curled up to fit into a cello case. It's about a nobody loser cellist who never get noticed for himself so he uses his beautiful wife to draw attention to himself. It's supposed to be llight-hearted but I feel like it get progressively perverse and warped as it goes on and the protaganist becomes more and more obsessed. Subtitles are floating around out there, if you look.

Pets (1974)
This one is all over the place. I remember it being like 3 movies in one story. The final part turns into somewhat of a horror story with some misogynist in a creepy house who wants to show off what a man he is by... well, I won't spoil it. (A similar movie I thought of recommending is The Frightened Woman (1968) but this one got the rec by virtue of being trashier...)(Another movie that it sorta reminds me of, vaguely is Midnight (1982), which I'm also considering recommending. Will it make the cut too? I don't know, keep reading and we'll find out.)

Behind the Green Door: The Sequel (1986)
.... and you oughta watch Behind the Green Door (1972), the first one, too, if you haven't already. This one is made by the same people, it's even more surreal and strangely condoms-only.

Seduction of Lyn Carter (1974), or High Rise (1973)
You decide! Two more porns! You can watch one, or you can watch the other. But you can't watch both, or you'll die, because I'm not supposed to list more than 6.

Seduction of Lyn Carter is Jamie Gillis in one of his typically sinister roles, wherein he seduces then roughs up Andrea True (disco singer of "More More More"). He's at once creepy and sexy. He'll give you the Gillies.

and then High Rise is just a silly blast, culminating in one of the most psychedelic orgies this side of Short Night of the Glass Dolls, to the tune of a "Sympathy for the Devil" ripoff that's just an absolute hoot. Through the whole orgy, amidst all the dancing and groping, with all the sex going on, Jamie Giillis is just standing off to the side, hitting a punching bag furiously. That's funny to me. (Also, check out the director, he went on to make The Unseen (1980), Savage Streets (1984) and Friday the 13th Part V. Cool.)

Midnight (1982)
I don't know if you've seen this before. Written and directed by John Russo, it's bleaker than I expected. I didn't realize I was going to end up reccing this until I started typing this list, but it's worth it if you haven't seen it before.

Boners Short:
Die Hexe (c. 1910s - 1920s)
This should be available on some porn tube sites. It's about a guy screwin' a witch whose magical powers lead to some Méliès inspired early special effects, and then it turns out she... [surprise ending]! Don't get scared!
