For those who don't know, The Boys is an Amazon series based off a comic series. It's about corrupt superheroes and a handful of pissed off regular folk who want to kill them. What if superman was a narcissistic asshole murderer? What if Aquaman gets molested and realizes how fucking lame he is? Well, it's a pretty ride, and season 2 left off with the best cliffhanger of all time:

Our "superhero" goes on top of a building, looks over the city, and jerks off all over it... to the thought of himself. If that doesn't leave you wondering "What happens next?", then what more do you want?

I'd probably watch this if I wasn't watching Daredevil.

So I finally finished all three seasons and yeah I did enjoy it a lot. Very consistent and never really dips in quality at any point during the show. The dialogue is great, it's funny at times and the violence is suitably bonkers and OTT, if a little CG heavy at times with its frequent "exploding" body parts. And yeah it's pretty obvious who some of the Supes are based on, from Maeve's "Wonder Woman" to Soldier Boy's "Captain America". The only issue I have plotwise is with compound V and whether the super powers it "grants" are just random or not. They appear to be: In season 3, Butcher (temporarily) gets the same powers as Homelander but how? Just by chance or did he desire that particular power and therefore he was granted it, as if by magic. I wish they would explain it a bit better.

I don't know if you realised but that "narcissistic asshole murderer" you are referring is based on a certain ex-President. In fact, despite the fact I enjoyed the satire I found some of it a bit too obvious. Sure it has digs at both sides of the American political spectrum but the left definitely gets off a lot lighter than the right, especially during the third season. It did make me wonder how those that lean towards the right feel about it.

Anyway will definitely look forward to season 4.

I tend not to care about the political jabs, because I know it's a product of Hollywood, which is a place that doesn't understand how the real world works. I do, however, feel that the show definitely exploits liberal media and how people will believe anything they hear on the news, whether evidence contradicts it or not. That's part of why I find it so interesting. 100% media manipulation, which makes it feel terrifyingly real.

The compound V powers do seem random, but it tends to always include superhuman strength and durability at the very least. I guess Butcher doesn't have the power of flight like Homelander, which is how that bastard was able to escape obliteration. God, that herogasm episode was great, wasn't it? I absolutely loved seeing Homelander get his ass kicked for a change. Put him in his place.

I do believe this show is better than 95% of Marvel and DC's output. Probably because it's meant for adult audiences and deals less with random monsters and more with power-hungry assholes, which the world has plenty of.

Yeah the Herogasm episode was great, better than the finale and it was enjoyable seeing Homelander get his ass kicked. Well, twice if you include Maeve in the finale. I guess she'll be wearing an eye patch come next season though.

Now I can get back to Daredevil...
