This comes out today. We'll see how it goes. It's supposed to be Disney's first mature content series, and while they say it'll be "brutal", I doubt it'll ever be as gnarly as Daredevil and Punisher. The word brutal has a much different meaning in such a family-friendly platform. To them, brutal is probably something like joking about a woman's hair. Or lack thereof.

I've never read any MK comics, but the character seems interesting. This is Disney Marvel finally making a show around a unique character instead of lame side characters.

Oscar Isaac is a good choice and I'm interested in seeing him play a character with multiple personalities, but the biggest draw here is the inclusion of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's input on the material. They're awesome. (Resolution, Spring, The Endless, Synchronic). Their movies are always about temporal fuckery and surreal grit. It's definitely got me intrigued.

First episode in, and opinions are meh. Am I surprised? Well, I shouldn't be. MK only shows up at the end, and it looks like he's going to be a CGI fest. *sigh* Plus, I don't understand the personality changes. It seems that Steven Grant is his default personality, when Marc Spector is supposed to be the default. Steven Grant was made up after his MK transition as far as I know, and he's supposed to be a millionaire playboy, but instead, he's a museum gift shop guy? Is this Disney fucking up AGAIN? Or is there a good reason behind this? At least people are actually dying in this show. Fingers crossed for more blood.

Not related to Moon Knight (although it does have Winter Soldier in it) but if you have Disney+, watch Fresh at some point. Pretty decent, relatively gory little thriller but best to go in blind although it'll quickly dawn on you what it's about.

It appears that it isn't available on Disney+ in the US. They're still very hesitant to put darker content on that platform. They still haven't added Deadpool or Logan. I suppose they're leaving the R- rated material for Hulu.

I am rewatching Daredevil though, and it's a pretty hardcore show for their standards.

I've never seen Daredevil, although I've watched The Punisher which was pretty brutal. The fact they cancel these shows makes me reluctant as they obviously don't "conclude".

What's stopping you from Daredevil? Punisher originated from season 2, and the show is fantastic. The best of the Netflix era Marvel. In fact, it's probably the best Marvel show ever. Season 3 was a solid "conclusion", but they're finally working on a new season. Hopefully just as violent, but who knows.

Maybe I'll give it a watch in that case. It's like with Deadwood, another show I really wanted to watch but never got a conclusion until they did the movie. I'm not going to spend hours and hours watching something that doesn't have an ending because it got cancelled or whatever. But that's cool they're making another season, although it might be slightly toned down for violence after the characters appeared in Spider-Man and Hawkeye respectively. Or maybe not.

Season 3 completed a great arc. If they never make a new season, it'll still end on a high note, but they did leave it open for more. Nobody was expecting Netflix to cancel all those great shows.

On a weird side note, Disney+ had removed all instances of Netflix in their credits, as if those shows were no longer created BY Netflix. Kind of a dick move I think.

Highly recommended though. If I had a top 10 list of the best shows I've ever seen, it would be in there.

Episode 2... God, I wish Netflix had made this show. Then, it wouldn't be filled with awkward comedy and excessive CGI.

REVIEW TIME:

Crap. Stupid incoherent plot with too much emphasis on Egyptian mumbo jumbo and dissociative identity disorder. To my understanding, Moon Knight is supposed to be a Batman knock-off in New York City, but here he is wasting much of the show's runtime in Egypt or Europe or wherever, and when he does don the suit, it's complete CGI bullshit. Oscar Isaac is a good actor and all, but Marvel just solidified the reason this character never caught on as much as some of the others: because Marvel is run by a bunch of twats. They're fuck ups and they fucked it up.
