Hi folks. I've been lazy as shit lately, and I apologize for that. Winter drains my will to live.

So, February is an empty month here. Is the Trash Challenge happening in March like usual? The Found Footage Challenge was more fun than I thought, but I burned out after about a month. I think a mini challenge might be a good idea to prepare for that possible Trash Challenge, just to keep the routine going.

February is black history month, and I blew the chance to do something with that. At the same time, I'm not sure how that would work anyway. You can't very well count a movie simply because there's a black person in it. emoticon And if you count movies that are about black civil rights, then that would basically be a racism challenge, which isn't good. So I'm not sure this one could get any traction, hmm...

Another option is a Love Mini-Challenge. This happened a few years ago, and I think the point system wasn't half bad, but you can make your own opinion on that: https://trashepics.com/post/1/395/

Thoughts for this month? Or next month?

Yep, Trash Challenge VI is happening. I'm definitely open to a mini challenge. Of course Blaxploitation will be a thing next month but I like the idea of a bunch of weird white dudes doing a "black person challenge" due to not knowing what the fuck else to do, while being super careful not to sound racist when deciding the rules, LoL. Sounds less gay than a love challenge. I've always thought a vampire challenge would be fun but that one would deserve a full month, imo.

If blaxploitation counts for next month, I'll skip it for now, because I can't think of a point system to save my life. As for the love challenges, don't think of it as romance. Think of it as "making love" / fucking. My point system before was basically just about people screwing or getting killed in the process, or "Love" in the title. I've been updating the movies in the database and finding that many of them have alternate titles, which could also count for that point.

The vampire challenge could be fun. Points for neck bites, staked hearts, sunburns, and other vamp cliches. Maybe that could go for April, the month with Walpurgis Night.

I was thinking of suggesting a documentary challenge for this month, so a mini version would be cool. Perhaps throw in documentaries about black history for bonus points.

It's doable. I'm sure I can plop on some docs from Shudder. If it's runtime based, I can watch the F13 doc they have, which is 4 hours.

Did you ever get around to watching those docs about 80s horror, In Search of Darkness? Worth considering too if you haven't watched them yet.

Not sure I've even heard about it, but Shudder has that too. Might have to give it a go. I remember Tubi had a bunch of decent docs I plowed through on a whim. I should have saved them for a doc challenge.

Pretty sure I'd mentioned it on the shout box and you had responded with interest but OK emoticon, get them watched! emoticon

Shoutbox, huh? Sounds like a place with lots of discussion. I'll have to check that out sometime.

I might have heard of acknowledged it at one point, but since I didn't have the means to watch it, it probably left my brain immediately.

Well something with Valentine perhaps is that an idea? But want to do trash after horror that is still my favorite type of challenge. I'm going to organise a trash challenge on the Dutch movie board as well.

Is the love challenge not synonymous enough for Valentines for you? But nicks that either way. The documentary challenge thread is already up, and I've got enough material on Shudder to keep me going for it.
