Everybody knows that Universal has been fucking up on their Dark Universe reboot, but that's because they're not even trying. This time around, they decided to give Leigh Whannell a shot, because at this point, what have they got to lose?

Now right off the bat, I can tell you I like Leigh. "Upgrade" was a kickass movie, and this recent effort is also a pretty solid one.

Invisible Man movies are usually about a scientist who takes some sort of drug to become invisible, and while this is partly true for this case, it partly isn't. The best thing to do is shut the fuck up about the specifics and let the viewer go into this deciding if our protagonist is crazy or legit.

There are good special effects and good slow-burn psychological drama. What a mix, huh? Go see it. Or don't. You probably wont, am I right?

Well I'm a fan of the Universal classic from the 1930s. Given that this is going to be more a psychological piece (which I got a bit tired of) I'm probably going to skip it.

Don't get me wrong, it definitely has a strong pyschological aspect to it, but there are some legit invisibility effects providing some cool scenes. I wouldn't expect anything less from the director of Upgrade. I think you might actually like this one somewhat, but it's your call.
