Gymno said I should implement this, so I finally did. Where is he, anyway?

So yeah, if you're too lazy to rate stuff on here, you can import your imdb ratings onto Trash Epics. This will of course adjust your 10 star vote to our 5 star system:

1 or 2 = 1/5
3 or 4 = 2/5
5 or 6 = 3/5
7 or 8 = 4/5
9 or 10 = 5/5

You can go to IMDb and export your ratings to a csv file, then upload them here at https://trashepics.com/app/import_ratings/

Any titles you rated that aren't in our database will be logged, so we can add them later if we're not too lazy.

I don't imagine many people will use this, but it was a coding project, and I learned some stuff from it, so no worries. I briefly tested it, but it should work. If not, report any bugs in this thread.

Thanks Box

I was in hospital the last few weeks with blood poisoning, a really bad few weeks, so I wasn't active here as much as I would have liked.

I have uploaded my ratings, and it looks great. It is nice to have them all here without having to do it manually.

You did a great job.

Good to see you back, and I hope you can get back to the swing of things easily. Everybody'sbeen getting sick lately, but not as bad as blood poisoning! Well, maybe Nicko's situation. emoticon

I see you've rated 4000+ titles on imdb, with 3000+ plus NOT in our database. Ha. Well, we can't be that encompassing, but we'll probably add some of those missing titles down the line. I'm just glad the damn works! emoticon

It's great, Box!

I can now rate stuff! It was really easy to use. In a matter of seconds there was a thousand or so titles rated. Very well done. emoticon

I've barely tested this as only one user has used the feature. Isn't your file a 'csv' type?

Yea defo "CSV" from IMDB... I used the same file to convert my ratings to Letterboxd & PTP. (from IMDB the same way)

On PTP a while back when I did this they had problems that IMDB had changed the structure of the information so it wasn't getting through until PTP coder changed some stuff to match it up again with IMDB (if that makes any sense?)

Is it latest Microsoft Word you are using, and not some other generic format? That is how it worked for me.

I can take a look at it. See if you can upload it into your file directory. If not, you can email it. It's probably a stupid little issue.

The file I got was unchanged direct from IMDB. If you want the file I could upload it to MEGA if you want it.

If there's any way you can tell me the MIME type, I'm thinking that's what the issue is. It appears that it isn't "application/vnd.ms-excel", "text/plain", or "text/csv"?
