My mind has been blank lately. I'm zoning right the fuck out, and I don't have any inspiration for anything. I spent the last few months writing my second book "White Trash Dracula", and that took a lot out of me, but I enjoyed the process. I want to write something else to keep me distracted, but I don't know what.

I have ideas for more stories based on universal monster movies, but I don't want to push the next one until I've got a solid outline, so I'm debating whether or not I should try writing something else in the meantime.

Sometimes, you hear an idea that sounds so stupid, you need it in your life. I'm trying to find the right idea to write about, but I can't think of anything that clicks just yet.

Maybe I just need to write something very gimmicky? Something different? Something that's pure horse shit, but what?

Anybody written a story that you're particularly proud of? Anything you wish could have been written better? In fact... do any of you even write? Does anybody write anymore, in this age of micro-tweets and vanity posts?

I've been throwing around ideas for short stories off and on for a while and have come up with not a helluva lot so far. I'd like to figure that out some time and branch out a little. I'm pretty proud of the review I'm gonna post in the morning. That last one, not so much. emoticon

Write a short story. Anything. I'll read it. I think writing is good for the soul, and not a lot of people give it a good enough effort.

I used to write short stories regularly when I was a teen and early twenty-something, but then I opted for longer, more well thought out shit, and I quickly became much less productive. Short stories are a good idea, but I have a hard time with them these days.

I've come up with a few ideas but nothing to make it all have a point. I experimented with a little fiction in my review for Begotten a few months ago but I figure it went undetected.

I hear that. I just don't have enough time, what with work and errands. I mean, I do have time, but not the energy to do it. By the time I get home, ready to write, I'm just too tired, so I throw something on tv and zone out. If I even have enough energy for that.

I drink a lot of energy drinks just to stay barely conscious.

Do you get enough sleep? I try and get roughly 8 hours a night.

I was obsessed with Monster energy drinks, the white can specifically. I'd drink two of them bad boys a day but I think they were messin' with my liver so I quit 'em altogether.

I get too much sleep these days, and that's never good. I fade in and out of a depressed state a lot lately, and my counter effort is to drink lots of caffeine. If I drank regular coffee, I'd probably be alright. All that taurine and chemical shit is probably bad on my liver too, but probably no worse than all the whiskey and beer and drink. I got really drunk last night, I actually got a hangover. It's been a while since I drank enough to get one of those.

It also doesn't help that my local 99cent store has nitrous monsters for $1. I've been buying a shit-ton of those fuckers. It's hard to ween yourself off of a caffeine / energy-drink habit. I think I probably fucked myself over from my days of working at Arbys. I'd chug coffee there, and mix it with mountain dew.

I hear you on the coffee. The Monsters were surprisingly easy to get off of, but only cuz I switched back to coffee.

My (almost) daily annoyance is trying to get my hands on the perfect cup of iced coffee, but I'm kind of particular in how I order it, so prob my fault...

Throw some exercise in to combat depression. It helps.

I bike to and from work everyday, which is about 3 miles each way, so I think I have the exercise covered. I always thought that people who work out a lot must not have much going for them, but I kind of understand why some of them do it now. Because it is a distraction from the mediocrity of life itself.

While good coffee is good coffee, I'm not cultured at all. I'll drink whatever, because I can't afford to be picky. Black coffee, iced coffee... as long as it's not decaf. That's just fucking pointless.

Guys who are working so hard to have a perfect six pack can't have much of a life or other areas of interest. It just takes too much dedication, even outside the gym (what you eat and stuff.) I just don't want my belly protruding out further than my chest, lol. All in all, it's fun, though.

I can understand why some people may drink decaf if regular gets them spazzing out and they have high blood pressure. Pretty sure decaf does contain some caffeine anyway, so it's a good alternative for those who still like the coffee taste, I suppose.

There's plenty I wish I could've written better, especially from the days when I knew nothing about things like acts and turning points. Many of my old stories are unfinished messes because I had no clue how to properly tell a story.

I think the story I'm most proud of is also the last one I wrote two or three years ago, a short story titled The Paranoia of Mr. Baudin. It was about a banker in a small town who believed someone was stalking him. There were some Hitchcock vibes to it.

I'm surprised there is quite a bit of peeps here who are or have been writing. I always had a fascination with writing whether it being stories, essays, opinions on whatever I felt like expressing, or just simple lists or statistics about anything I have interest or time for. I put quite a bit of work in lists and pictures about the collections I have.

Used to write long stories mostly fantasy/fairy tale like. Once I wrote a story that pleased me which can be best described as Wizard of Oz like story and a few sequels/spin offs I kinda decided I'm happy with that achievement.

Still I have a wish to write some horror movie scripts. I have written down some basic ideas with some of my favorite board games, theme park, concepts Herschell Gordon Lewis style as setting. Maybe I should pick it up again but I always seem to find something else to do. I even have a huge list of actresses/celebs who could be playing the roles in these 'imaginary' movies...

i was -supposed- to be some kind of writer but my lack of ambition kind of nixed that in any professional sense. i never lost my love of storytelling, though.
my favored mediums would be comic books and film.

i've an entire universe of capeshit in my brain, only a little of which has been illustrated.
