These days, every social networking site can be implemented in a web site. I don't use these much because I'm not a social enough person, and I'd like to put my focus here obviously. Yet some of them have convenient aspects about them that make them less worthless to us.

I have some image files for social networking icons, and I think it'd be a shame to let them go to waste if they could somehow prove useful to TE, so tell us trash addicts...

What are your thoughts on these "popular" things?
And which do you have accounts for?

Behance
Blogger
Deviant Art
Digg
Dribbble
Dropbox
Facebook
Flickr
Google+
Instagram
LinkIn
MySpace
PayPal
Pinterest
RSS
Skype
StumbleUpon
Tumblr
Twitter
Vimeo
WordPress
Yahoo
YouTube

My Thoughts?

I'm not gonna lie. I haven't even heard of some these, so I'll share my opinions on the ones I do know:

DeviantArt - Mostly just perverts drawing out their fetishes. I can't say there's anything wrong with that. I don't really draw, so it's kind of useless to me.

Dropbox - Some kind of file transfer site?

Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TrashEpics - Useful for staying in touch with family and whatnot, but it's so plain. I have an account, and TrashEpics has an account, though I have no plans for it.

Flickr - Just another gallery site, as far as I'm aware...

Google+ - I have an account, but that's only so I can use youtube. It seems like a rip-off of facebook, but more people use facebook. So fuck off, Google+.

Instagram - Take pics, filter them, and upload them. I think this is probably meant for teen girls. I don't take selfies, so it's kind of useless to me, but the concept is good. I fucked around with a webcam/phone-cam snapshot system, so I've already built half of what I assume Instagram is.

MySpace - Obsolete, right? Does anyone still use this? Back in the day, it was pretty fuckin' awesome though. I loved how people could customize the code in their profiles. However, that was also a curse, as some people have absolutely no style. Since TE is tiny enough to manage, I've allowed the trash zones to retain this type of customization.

PayPal - I have an account... but I've never used it. It seems promising, but it's really just there for donations. Of course, nobody is ever going to donate, but that's another story! emoticon

Pinterest - It's popular... but I don't know WTF it is!

RSS https://trashepics.com/feed/rss.php - This is more for nerd coders, but if you like a site that has RSS feeds, then we can steal that site's news article! That's what I do for the NEWS section. TrashEpics has its own newsfeed too (user posts), and user's can add news too. I'll usually just clear it all after a certain point though, since there's no need to save another site's news.

Skype - This sounds interesting, and I know @Troma and @Shaza have used this to videochat with trash epics' hero Chris Seaver. Hopefully, they can elaborate on the functionality of this one.

Tumblr - Photo gallery. I use it for porn, and since I love tits so much, I just use the TrashEpics tumblr to reblog some awesome tits. I believe it's possible for others to post on this tumblr's account, but I've never looked into it. If you find a sexy trash can, or some juicy succulent garbage bags... or porn... then feel free to try and reblog it.

Twitter https://twitter.com/TrashEpics - Perhaps the worst of them all, designed to simplify people's thoughts into pointless "tweets" of vanity. TrashEpics has an account, but I really don't care to post things on it.

Vimeo - An alternate video site. I only know it because Tyler Hosley posts videos there.

WordPress - Used for websites and comments I think. I've never used it, because I just build the damn stuff myself.

Yahoo - Not as popular as it used to be, but I still have email with them.

YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/TrashEpics - Everyone uses youtube. It's pretty much the universal video site. They have too many ads though.

Your Thoughts?

Thoughts? Ideas? Have an account that you want to include? Please rant here.

I have a Facebook account which I use a lot, though mostly to chat shit rather than anything serious. I think I have a Google + account, a Yahoo and a Flickr account but I don't use them at all, and I very occasionally comment on Youtube videos but don't upload myself. Had a Skype account for a while, probably still do, but I deleted the programme. Have a Twitter account I don't use and a Paypal account I've used once, solely because the show I was going to was selling through them. Rest of them I'm vaguely familiar with except Pinterest which is a complete mystery.

Find Facebook pretty invaluable. I lost contact with all my friends from school or uni for a few years and don't live near any of them, so it was quite a reuniter. Good for organising my rare social outings. And for chatting stupid shit of course. Also nice for keeping up with girls I've befriended on OkCupid, as like all dating sites as far as I know it seems to really deter the regular, nice ones. Friends with a couple of older horror boarders as well, which is neat.

Facebook is probably the most universal people-index, which is why it's more useful than most other social networking sites. If someone isn't on facebook, they usually don't want to be found.

Can you elaborate on the dating sites? I've never used them, but user profiles/compatibility is always an interesting feature.

I just use OKCupid. You get to fill out a profile with a summary, personal details, what you're doing with your life, favourite films, books, music, food, six things you can't do without, most personal thing you'll admitt and the sort of people you want to message you. Place for photos as well. Then there are a whole bunch of questions that are supposed to identidy your personality traits, and the site compares your answers with those of others to give a percentage match, friend and enemy, and you can then browse matches on these, as well as distance.

For one reason and another I've yet to "seal the deal" with anyone there, but I've had a lot of fun chat, made a good friend and hopefully a new gig buddy.

Tempting. But you have to wonder whether your bad traits can be found desirable. I'm a slacker. I don't want to do shit, I'm poor, uneducated, boring as hell, and probably semi retarded. Do people find that attractive? I wonder what kind of algorithm they use to determine compatibility.

DeviantArt -
Ne'er have I used it, looked upon it, or thought of it.

Dropbox -
I used it for some publication submissions I had to edit

Facebook -
I don't use facebook 'cause I don't want to have to communicate with anyone, I don't want people to know anything about me that I don't tell them personally and I don't want to have to deny my mother a "Friend" status which I would do if I joined up. Actually, I did have to start an account once, for a class I was taking. And I started one long before that to spy on my girlfriend, but I learned nothing so I deleted it.

Flickr -
I feel like this was an up and coming thing once. I have an account but haven't accessed it in years.

Google+ -
Yeah, I only have this because you need one to do things on other sites sometimes.

Instagram -
Don't have one.

MySpace -
I had myspace for a week in, I think, 2005. I used it as a profile for a fictional old lady in my old home town who was trying to make the most of her sex life before she died.

PayPal - I use this for ebay, I guess.

Pinterest -
My chick has this, and I felt jealous of it. She was always on pinterest, liking this and that. It's like window shopping and organizing pictures of things you'd like to have/experience in real life. I got so jealous, I came up with a fake name and was determined to infiltrate the entire site, and convert it to my sexual wishes. I started posting things a normal woman would like, then started integrating more sexual stuff into it. Then started liking her "pins." Then she friended me and started reposting my "pins," not knowing it was me. My idea was to then start posting subversive stuff that she would start seeing when she logged in, so there would be overly sexual images in her brain that she would then start subliminally feeling motivated to recreate with me. But then I got bored. It was too much work. Then I tried looking up "secret hypnotism" but that doesn't work either.

RSS -
No working experience

Skype -
This is actually useful. I don't use it, but I get it.

Tumblr -
I love some tumblrs. I feel outdated now for my blogspot site that I never use, which I started in 2009 or whenever.

Twitter -
One of the few forms of social media I actually use. I don't follow any of my friends or relatives though, and have no qualms about blocking them or whatever it's called. I just use it to follow funny comedians that post great one-liners. And to post, then later delete random crap.

I remember one time I said black people like the HBO fantasy show "Game of Tyrones" which is stupid and not even a great pun but, like, right away, a bunch of my liberal friends stopped following me.

Vimeo
I know about this somehow, have an account, and use it when a video isn't accessible elsewhere.

WordPress
I had to start a WordPress blog for some class once.

Yahoo -
I feel bad for yahoo. I used to have an email there and probably still do. Same with hotmail.

Youtube -
My account is in bad standing and in danger of being deleted due to soundtracks of vintage porn movies I posted with clips from the movies. They kept getting reported and deleted. I can't even access anything when I'm signed in, so I'll hae to start another account.
(here's the only slideshow I have that's still allowed up there, by the way: "Goodbye Rocky" from Femmes de Sade: youtube

I feel like we're missing some, but goddamn, this conversation makes me sad.

Oh, yeah, I remember the missing one!

Snapchat!
I don't use it, but I am getting sick of random friends of my girlfriend taking my picture on snapchat around town and then I go home and my she is like "Hey, blahblah-Face sent me this snapchat of you! So, you went out for a drink, huh?" This has happened multiple times and only once has anyone told me about it at the moment, and I flipped out on her and called her a dickhead in front of her stinky son.

Ha! Funny stuff there. I've heard of snapchat, but there wasn't an icon of it in my files, so I forgot about it. I don't even know what it is, but I'll assume it's just like Instagram, which I assume is just another gallery site?

I'll assume you're not familiar with the others I listed? Behance, Blogger, Digg, Dribbble, LinkIn, StumbleUpon? The ones I've never heard of until today?

And I hate twitter because the followers are so fickle. I made racist jokes and Harry Potter's twitter followed me. Then later, I said something that wasn't racist, and they unfollowed me.

Facebook - I use it for movie groups, updating my blog page and masturbating to nudes I get from a girl I met at work once, but who stays 2 countries away.

Blogger - My blog is there. I just talk about movies. Nobody reads it and I suck at HTML to make it look pretty

Tumblr - Just made 1 yesterday. Liking it as much as any other online blog. I like the porn too

Wordpress - I would love to be able to afford the good versions and know how to code to make my own hipster pop culture site, but I suck at it.

Twitter - Great for meeting movie fans, but it spams like a bastard

I use Twitter... i am actually the king of Twitter

The average account has 300-400 followers according to survays but i have two accounts. one with over 15k followers & one that will hit 35k by the end of this month.

I started using Facebook recently as well for horror groups.

Twitter & Facebook are essential for promoting forums & horror sites but you do need to know how to do it right & it takes time... i have to spend at least 30min a day on Twitter just to manage my accounts.

I don't use Tumblr but that is one i would use for promotion reasons.

Forums will always rule for me but never overlook Twit & FB
