I haven't seen this but have read that it was terrible. The original was a pretty tough act to follow, being one of the best made for TV horror films of all time. Still you'd think they could've come up with something fairly decent, especially with the original writer involved. Durning, Lyons and Drake were great actors. Maybe they didn't have anyone that good in the cast of the new one. I still intend to check it out someday. Maybe there's a chance I won't hate it as much as so many others apparently did. I keep thinking about Return to Sleepaway Camp, which I didn't hate as much as many did. This has something in common with that film in that it came many years after the original, it has the original writer/director, and the original was one of the best of it's type. Return to Sleepaway Camp wasn't perfect, but it sure did feel like an honest effort and some aspects of it were pretty good.

Return to Sleepaway Camp is great. The tone matches the original much more than the first two sequels (which I also love). It's a far cry from what this Dark Night sequel is though. It's just terrible. No name actors, garbage plot, CGI, and incredibly boring. Anyone could have made a better movie than this. The writer/ director should be ashamed of himself.
