It hates the cold, so they defeat it with fire extinguishers and dump it in the arctic. Then the last lines of the movie really sell it.

"At least we've got it stopped."
"Yeah, as long as the Arctic stays cold."

Was there any global warming movies before this one? In the 70s, I notice they had some global warming tripe in some animal horror flicks, but this here might be the earliest that I can think of.

Also, the theme song is great.

Knocked out of orbit. Reminds me of an episode of Futurama where it was getting too hot on earth, so they pushed the earth a little farther from the sun. If only it were that easy!

Actually now I think about it, it was a twilight zone episode
7/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0734660/

If you havent seen all of the inital run of 5 seasons of the twilight zone, its well worth it

I've seen that one. I like the twist ending too. Some year, I'll finish that show. I have season 4 and 5 to go I think. Perfect for the black and white challenge.

There is a short story I always liked a lot, about this topic. I would go so far as to say I freaking LOVED the story, when I read it as a kid. I still like it a lot. Anyway, it is called A Pail of Air, by Fritz Leiber. I guarantee that you won't be sorry, if you track it down and read it.

Box, check this story out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Pail_of_Air Oh wow, there are several videos of the story on Youtube. I am not sure if any of them are actual animated films illustrating the story, they might just be a bunch of audiobooks, basically, with a single image of some kind that stays on the screen throughout the whole story. I don't really have time to double check on that. But if you feel like listening to the story, there are several videos on Youtube. They are mostly around half an hour or 35 minutes long.
