I'm such a grandpa, I had a typing class in HS. Not so old we used typewriters but word processors like anybody knows what the fuck those are anyways. I know I passed the class and IIRC I averaged something like 70-75 wpm. I don't really want to try this exercise now...not sure if I'm too buzzed or not buzzed enough?

I had to look up what a word processor was. lol at those.

I had a keyboarding class in maybe 7th grade. I guess it helped enough, and it was a required class. This was at the turn of the century when Y2K was proving how essential computers would become. These days, keyboards might be experiencing a decline as everyone texts instead of types.

I believe that class was in 1990? We had a computer class back then but it was terrible. You basically had to code for a half hour to get a pong like ball to uselessly bounce back and forth the monitor screen. TRS-80 was the name of the computers the schools were using back then, utter trash.

Sounds pretty useless to me. Maybe they were trying to turn people off of wanting a computer career by showing them how tedious things could be. I'm glad we eventually got to the point where we're at now where a dumbass like me could build a junkyard of worthless apps like this typing crap here. Ironically, I never got pong to work in javascript.

I recall during my short college stint coming back from summer break in 1994 we went to the library where we were shown how to use the "internet" on the new computers they had just gotten. They explained how you could research anything using the "search engine", sure it took 5-10 minutes to get a result but it was like magic.

And you were hooked ever since! Thank God the dial-up speeds turned into DSL, which turned into cable, which became pretty instantaneous.

I remember the scene in Nightmare 3 when the guy looks up Hypnocil on his bulky old computer and I used to think that was hi-tech.

Ouch. 34 WPM, 174 CPM, no errors, 100% accuracy. I never formally learned to type, I just sort of developed my own clumsy style.

Holy shit thats a lot! I cant take this test because im on my phone, but last time i took a typing test it was like 40 wpm and 100% accuracy... yours is double that! That's impressive!

I thought it was pretty average. Us keyboard users have it easier than they did in the old days of typewriters. They had to really push those keys.

That is true. They did have to press harder. As far as i know though the average typing speed is 40 wpm. So you are double that lol.

I can only type fast if I have something to type. Otherwise, my thought process is pretty slow. It can take me forever to formulate a complete sentence on my own.

hmmm tried it and it saiz I was slower on my phone. I thought I would be quicker.
I actually doubt the results as I know I swype on my phone much quicker than I type on my PC keyboard, true my accuracy on the phone is BS
