Was Angela Basset for Black Panther? If so, that movie deserves to lose. Anything Marvel deserves to lose nowadays.

But the real criteria for these awards shows is basically that any non-white gets the priority. Since Top Gun was mostly about white people, it had to lose. I don't see why a movie like that couldn't win otherwise, and I'm not even a fan (of the first, haven't seen the 2nd).

I still thought it was a stupid clusterfuck of a movie. A movie about buttplugging and hot dog fingers and rocks with emotional breakthroughs? Wtf is even going on in this movie?

I didn't hate it. I just think it's stupid that this weirdo sci-fi/fantasy is the only movie they could muster up. At least Emancipation didn't win! People are getting tired of slavery Oscar-bait movies, and one of those already won years ago despite nobody seeing it. At least people actually saw this movie.

JLC is the one with the hot dog fingers. She won because she was playing a dyke. And Brendan Fraser's character was also gay in The Whale. And fat, so disabled makes him doubly valid for the win. Woke doesn't equate to intelligent. Woke is when people fixate on perceived "social injustice" and push it into being an issue. Much like how racism was finally minified in the states until liberals got bored and started making it an issue again.

The problem here is that you're using the term "woke" as if it's an admirable thing to be. Yes, it seems like it's something to strive for, but most people bragging about being woke are absolute twats who like to advocate equality by stepping on the people who actually believe in equality.

Said twats are the type who bring about dumbass legislation to give preferential treatment to minorities, like trans bathrooms, banning words that offend snowflakes, and complaining about their gender identities or some such bullshit.

Countries like China and Afghan aren't inherently non-woke/ignorant. They're run by dictators who like to censor freedom of thought and expression. They couldn't be open-minded even if they wanted to be.

There's no argument from me that the two-party system is stupid as hell. Both sides suck, and the illusion of choice is just that. An illusion.

I'm not so bothered about the less vacation days. I can work. I can quit my job. I can live off subsidized housing if I wanted, but I don't want that, because I'm opting out of being part of that permanent lower class that the dems need to feed their egos and agendas. There is plenty of freedom in the US, but you have to squint hard to see it sometimes.

The banning of these lib-centric books aren't all necessarily repube motivated for the hell of it. I don't disagree that it is stupid to push all this trans/racially-divisive hate-mongering propaganda into curriculums, because what does that teach people? Valuable life lessons about tolerance? Or that whitey is the devil and all police are racist? That the less-than 8% of LGBTs in the US should dictate our laws and what we're taught in schools? It's counter productive to learning about things that actually matter, like the earth being round and the holocaust did happen, as well as other tidbits of common sense such as why historical events and wars (regardless of how triggering they may be to some) are important to know about. As a programmer, you ought to understand the value of logical-based decisions over emotional ones.

Plus, in a similar vein to video nasties, banning these books gives them more publicity and thus more sales. I wouldn't be surprised if the libs were creating this drama themselves to appear more oppressed so they can inflate their bloated egos and continue wasting time and resources on the non-issues they continue to pretend are real issues.

Musk banning that douche was because he was violating his privacy, which he then goes on to clarify is a direct personal safety risk. I can't blame him for that.

There is bit of a double standard here. Other races can play white roles, but white people would get crucified if they were to play an asian or a black person.

I read about some instance of a TV episode where a white British guy played Michael Jackson, and that got some heat, but why? (Probably because it was a shitty, but that's not the point.) Let the actors act.

There's was that whole outcry not long ago that only trans people should play trans characters, which is complete bullshit considering Jared Leto won an Oscar for it one year, but would be boycotted if he tried that same role today.

I'm glad Ben Stiller refuses to apologize for the blackface in that movie. Too bad It's Always Sunny got their episodes banned for it, cuz those were some of the all time best.

Easy now. It's perfectly valid for a mother to bring a kid to a movie theater... so long as she puts a muzzle on it.

The maturity level of the minor makes a big difference. If a young kid can remain composed and non-disruptive, I don't see an issue with it. But absent-minded lolly-gaggers by no means should be allowed in. Probably not even into children's movies.

This thread is probably more entertaining than the Oscars. Not that I would know, I didn't watch that shit. I just complain about it after the fact.
