Tulsa King

Nov 2022
Paramount+ premiered the first episode today. Stallone's never done a tv show, so this is quite interesting. His crew sends him to take over Tulsa, and there's a bit of culture shock to a guy who spent a quarter of a century in the big house.

I visited Tulsa once. I stayed at some hotel and looked out the window at the downtown big buildings and all that, but man... what a ghost town. There was nobody on the streets, no cars... seemed like something you'd see in a zombie apocalypse. And that's where Stallone's got to set up shop? He actually sees a lot more people there than I did, otherwise the show would be really boring.

Fortunately for my lack of time to binge things, they only put out one episode at a time, but Stallone never disappoints. I can tell he's having fun playing a gangster, and it makes you wonder why he never played one before. Well, he was in John Landis's Oscar, which was pretty funny, therefore not a real gangster story. I'll stay tuned for sure.

Honestly, I'd watch anything written by Taylor Sheridan. He's one of the only mainstream Hollywood writers still working out there worth following imo. Hell or High Water is probably my favorite crime drama post 2015 and there's a reason Yellowstone is cables #1 show 4 years running...Sicario wasn't too shabby either. Tulsa King was written by Sheridan?...it can't be bad.

Never heard of Yellowstone, but there are already theories that TK is set in the same world.

If you have Paramount+ I suggest you check it out. The 1st 2 seasons are gold imo. It's a modern day western cowboy series. Seasons 3+4 are good just not as good as the previous. The season 5 premiere was tonight.

Just watched the first episode. It was better than I expected. I like Stallone, but he hasn't always made the best career choices. Probably would've had higher expectations if I'd known Sheridan wrote Hell or High Water.

Lots of love for Hell or High Water, which I thought was okay at best. I actually can't remember any specifics about it. Stallone is still mostly good, but he had a few duds. Apparently, Arnold tricked him into taking Stop or my Mom Will Shoot. emoticon

Ep 2. Good stuff. Obviously, it's building up to something going wrong for him, because there are multiple threads in which something can go wrong. It can't all be fun and games for ol' Ike. It was fun to see Stallone get high as fuck. Never thought I'd see that.

Also, I saw an article titled something along the lines of "Stallone might not return for season 2". It's the fucking second episode, and you're already trying to stir up shit? Besides, admittance or denial would signify major spoilers either way, so fuck those guys for their non-news.

What would you think, Stallone being the big movie star he's always been? Of course if the show takes off he's gonna hold out for as much $ as he can. I don't have Paramount+ but they're showing ep 1 tonight on the Paramount channel after Yellowstone. I'm still 1 of those assholes with a cable subscription so I'll comment later on what I think of the 1st ep.

I say give Sly whatever he wants, between Sheridan's writing and Stallone staring, based on the 1st ep the shows a winner. It's got a good supporting cast to boot.

To anyone watching, episode 4 was great. The potential conflicts are piling up, but the show still feels fun even though I know some bad shit is going to happen. A great showdown at the end, too.

There goes the season finale, for anyone watching. Some good stuff happening around there. I love Stallone's take-charge attitude, and how when he tells people to do something, they fucking DO it! Very happy turnout, except well... those who watched it will know. Some people are cunts.

Will season 2 happen? I mean, it was renewed very early on, but this ending seems like something that would negate that. Then again, announced the season 2 so early on invalidates the merit of this ending, since we know it wont stick if a season 2 does in fact happen.
