I just recently watched Bad Moon (1996). Despite the inclusion of name actors Mariel Hemingway and Michael Parรฉ, the true star of the film is Thor, the German Shepherd. His undying devotion to protecting his beloved family is what really made me emotionally involved.

Sleepwalkers (1992) had Clovis the cat. Where the human characters were practically useless, Clovis spent the whole movie kicking ass.

I'm sure there are plenty more I could list that aren't immediately coming to mind. Which are your favorites?

That is a good question...nothing immediately sprang to mind. Those either of the Cat People (1942 & 1982) count? I can't remember.

Primo/Thor is prob the best canine actor of his generation. Saw Monkey Shines (1988) last night n Boo/Ella is one heck of a well trained monkey, but not quite as cute as the Baboon in Shakma (1990)

The Rats in Willard (cant remeber if both version use real rats...), mainly Ben i guess. and i have a soft spot for Cujo with his big corn syrypy chops

if fake animals count then the reanimted cat from Pet Sematary gets a shout

Yeah, but wouldn't they be considered villains?

all non-human animals are neutral, no wait. Did I say that or just think it?

I guess they couldn't be considered evil unless they're hounds of Satan?

...or they're all evil except for Fievel.

No, that's not right either... Fievel is the WORST. ANIMATED. MOUSE. IN. CINEMATIC. HISTORY. emoticon

Fievel brought this on himself... you shouldn't feel sorry for him.

I haven't seen either movie, or was there more than 2? since the 90's. Really don't remember them.

I thought for sure there were just 2, but I just found out there were 4, and a TV series! I remember seeing Fievel Goes West in the theater. I loved it at the time, of course I was only 6.

Jones the cat for sure, although I'm not sure he's a hero exactly...
I've never seen Sleepwalkers, but I'm interested now that there's a cool cat in it.

The Doberman from Tenebre also kicked some ass. emoticon

I can easily say Sleepwalkers isn't worth the time, but there are some funky things that make it worthwhile, weird mother son incest, death by corncob...

King's screenplays are better when it's based on one of his books, his original screenplays tend to be all over the place.

Okay, Clovis was cool. Easily the best character of the movie.
