I completely agree! I loved the atmosphere and I was so excited to see where it was going. The setting was perfect, but turned out to be a big letdown.

Exactly! After we know what the fuss was all about (we see the monster and the paganists), i couldn't take the movie seriously. Still major points for the great setup and atmosphere up to the point we don't know what's really going on.

I just watched it. I love movies with a woodsy setting, so, I knew I'd like it. I thought it kinda dragged for a while there but I actually liked the last 20 minutes ok. If not for that, I would have given it a 5, but figured I'd bump it up a point. Solid but nothing new. 6/10

Thought the four leads were very naturalistic, especially the dialogue which helped beleiving and investing in the characters as old mates. I'm with everyone else on the atmosphere and setting, utilised very well the trees aiding to the claustrophobic feeling. Some of the set design was really cool, in particular the cabin and effigy.

It's nothing original, notably borrowing from Blair Witch, Evil Dead & Predator amongst others and i think it was a wise decision to reveal as little as possible for as long as possible regarding the demon monster god thing. For me the comedy was all in the first hour, the ineraction between the lads mostly, but as you say alongside this the director creats a creeping dread type feel. By the final act the horror part takes over and could have ended better for me, but overall a fine effort 7/10
