I figure I'd go ahead and do this in January, this year. Maybe we'll do something for animation in April. I was going to do a reversal of the point system and have the latter movies be worth the most points, but I've decided to give the runtime system a shot which removes the minimum runtime rule. So, anything that's black and white counts. Any genre of movie, sitcoms, serials, shorts. As long as it's black and white. Tinted movies count. This challenge begins January 1st at midnight. I'll put up the progress thread tomorrow. Any questions or comments?

Looking forward to this. I think that runtime is probably the ideal way to score any challenge, but I still understand how tradition will dictate the rules of certain challenges, but runtime is funtime.

I don't have any particular B&Ws I want to watch, so I'll probably extend my sci-fi challenge by watching some Twilight Zone season 2. Pretty sure it's on netflix, which makes it an easy watch.

Groovy. I'm doing Sci/fi and Turkey challenges over at ICM so this should overlap nicely although I suspect that doing three challenges will provide too many distractions for me to retain my victory spot from last year.

I really like the run time method too and I'm glad it has proven to be popular here since I introduced it with Challenge of the Apes.

Hey you stole the idea from me dude when I organised the B/W challenge at Zed's place! emoticon emoticon
But kidding aside I'm not prepared for a B/W challenge at this moment and not interested in animation so I guess I'll either skip this challenge or do one in April somewhere else.

If you want to get nit-picky, I used running times for the Doco challenge at Zed's a couple of months before the B/W one. emoticon IMDb was too entrenched in a points system to ever introduce it there and sadly ICM seems to be the same.

I do like the running times method and that makes me want to compete in the B/W Challenge even more but so far I've got zero. Should be rectified by the end of the day though. I'm just off to a really slow start.

i think it's pretty great, though sometimes the concepts feel a bit ahead of the writers' capabilities. contemporary Twilight Zone Irony with a tehcnological bent. it's an anthology series so some eps will hit more than others.

Just watched it. Pretty nifty dystopian-future survival episode with killer robot-dogs.

I was just watching Episode 14 from season 4 of The Andy Griffith Show. The one where Opie makes friends with a new boy in town, Trey. Early on, he spends the night with Opie and the plan is to share Opie's bed. Andy comes in and insists that one of them has to sleep with him so that they don't stay up, talking. As Opie gets up, Andy's all like "No, I want to sleep with Trey. Don't worry. I'll bring him back, later". I imagine we won't be seeing something like that again in a sitcom any time soon. emoticon

I've seen it once, because Rosemary's Baby built my interest in the Polanski apartment trilogy. Rosemary is one that took me a few watches to fully appreciate, and maybe Repulsion is a bit slow, but I liked it enough. Bitch just goes crazy in her apartment. It's also got Ian Hendry, from a bunch of cool horrors from that era. Still my least favorite of the trilogy (I think The Tenant is great).
