I've always had a thing for Time Travel. Always found it fascinating ever since I watched the Back To The Future Trilogy as a kid. And, to me, it's what really makes the Terminator franchise so interesting. Anyone have any underseen recs for the challenge? what are your favorite time travel movies?

Nice list there, Timecrimes is the underrated unknown gem of the bunch there IMO.

Didn't know Donnie Darko was a time travel movie. Been meaning to see that for years. I hear it's got quite the cult following.

I figure Terminator: Salvation was such a failure due to no time travel.

I didn't know you haven't seen Donnie Darko! That one is definitely worth a watch.

I blind bought Donnie Darko ten years ago at a flea market, and to this day it remains my greatest blind buy.

Yeah, it was a let down.

i share your enthusiasm for time travel in general & in movies. Underseen is tricky, there's been a lot of talk about Predestination, Primer & Timecrimes recently so they may not be as underseen as i thought. They're all great tho. Gym mentioned Sound of my Voice which is a fairly original and interesting take on time travel.

Here's some

Time After Time 1979 - comedy where Malcolm McDowell as HG Wells hunts David Warner's Jack the Ripper through time.
Triangle 2009 storm hits boat, wierd stuff goes down
Twelve Monkeys 1995 maybe too popular
Red Dawerf 1988 TV Series with plenty of time travel related eps
Bill & Ted movies again popular but worth mentioning
Time Lapse 2014 a camera that takes pics 24hours into the future. what would you do with it?
Paradox 2016 Zoe Bell n her scientist mates send someone an hour into the future, turns out to be a shit idea
Waxwork I & II some may not have seen these. doubt it, but hey
Slaughterhouse Five 1972 a war veteran becomes unstuck in time
Blackadder Back & Forth 1999 one off TV special Blacky n Balders test out thier time machine
Trancers 1984 Box brought me to this franchise & Jack Deth!

and i have to give a shout to Hellraiser iv Bloodlines an absolute shamble but a fun one

Sound of my Voice was good, but I prefered Another Earth from that directors films.

Yeah, Hellraiser iv Bloodlines was a shambles, but watchable. I found Hellraiser: Inferno surprislingly good. It is more crime/police detective type, but good imo. Have you seen it?

Inferno is my favourite of the sequels post part II. I have a soft spot for the entire franchise, inc books, art, comics etc so my judgement of the films is skewed by this predisposition. plus it has The Sheff who has a Barker connection with Nightbreed.

most, if not all the direct to video sequels of the 2000s were stand alone scripts adapted to the Hellraiser franchise. the last one was made simply so the studio could keep the rights. there's a new one out this year (supposedly), same director as Revelations so im expecting the same type of dross but im still gonna go see it coz im a mug like that.

Tried to find Sound Of My Voice on Youtube, but it's only got a zoomed in version. Might have to purchase that one. I did pick up the Trancers series last night for a good price, so, thanks to you and Fuad for that.

Here's one that's pretty good I found on Youtube last week.

I remember loving Time Bandits (1981) when I was a kid. I haven't watched it in years, but I'll probably rewatch it for the SF/F challenge. I'm curious to see how I feel about it today.

Idaho Transfer was great, smerd, thanks for the rec!
I watched it last night and immediately knew I was going to rewatch it again someday; there is a lot going on with the dialogue and sublte events, more than I was expecting for a film like this. My one lament is that I wish the acting and the delivery of the dialogue had been better. It's not that it was bad, but a lot of the delivery seemed rather dull and non-emotional/monotone. A little more range and emotion on the part of the actors would have engaged me more. But I found it quite good overall...

Glad you liked it, peeps! emoticon

Yeah, though I think some of that was just the style, watching some of the low budget indie stuff from back then seems like actors have that same style of delivery.

Or maybe you know, Fonda was like stoned, and he kept telling them to "Bring it down, man, bring it down."

Timequest is pretty good, IMHO. You have to understand before you watch it that it is meant to show the time traveler's love of Jackie Kennedy... if you know that, you'll like it more.

Also, if you are a Jane Seymour fan by any chance, you might like Somewhere in Time.

Recently, I was quite blown away by the entire Planet of the Apes series. Had I known that time-travel played such an integral part of that series, I'd have watched it sooner. Trancers is another great one. Not really great because of story or anything, but great because of the Jack Deth character.

I think The Terminator is still my favorite, because it creates such a great sense of lingering paranoia. 12 Monkeys, The Butterfly Effect, Predestination, Back to the Future, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Edge of Tomorrow, and Hot Tub Time Machine are all great. Nothing too obscure here, though...

TV has some great time-travel stuff too. Dark Shadows has got to have the best time-travel drama out there, but 11.22.63 recently was damn good. And everybody likes Quantum Leap, right?

And Quantum Leap was fuckin' great! Many a fond memory from that show.

So, what the fuck's up with Trancers 4? I must say, that's quite a change of pace. I was really feeling the first 3. 'Bout to go check out the fifth one. What the fuck's up with part 6? That wasn't in the dvd pack I got.
