Anyone ever used Criticker? The movie recommendations site.

I signed up to it a week ago or so. It is all scientific. It can be fairly complicated to understand how it all works at first, with all the tiers, quips, Taste Compatibility Index (You can compare your tastes to that of others), probable score indicators, FICs... but the recommendations are very accurate to your taste, and they also give a probable rating of a movie before you see it, on whether you will like it or not, and from my experience it is always nearly accurate. You can also import all your ratings from IMDb - which is a great help.

I wouldn't delete my other accounts for it, or anything, but it is good for what it is - a solid and reliable recommendations site.

Anyone ever used it?

i used it for like a week a little while back. may or may not resume at some point. i have been told it gets better or more accurate (or something) the more you feed into it.

Yes, I heard that too.

I think you are right.

I imported around 4,000 ratings from my IMDb account, and the predicted ratings they give me seem to pretty accurate. For example I seen Resident Evil (2002) recently and I wasn't impressed by it - so I give it a 5, and when I went into my account to rate it - lo and behold, my predicted rating was 5! This has happened a lot of times to me. I am not saying it has been 100 per cent correct every time - but I would say around 85 per cent of the time.

Nope and honestly doesn't sound like something I would use a lot. Sounds also too much work. Given how much time I have spent recently on making those lists on Letterboxd I'm not prepared to add another movie site on my list. I still trust the old recommend me something with this theme, style etc rather than science. Since for me it usually works out differently as my taste is much harder to pinpoint than yours.

Also I'm actually not a big fan of making movie lists or not to the extent that it becomes like an obsession. Especially long lists are no fun. I always dread to get through those.

Yeah, it wouldn't be your sort of thing at all.

You don't rate movies at all either, Johan? You use to. If i remember correctly. Which makes using Criticker more difficult.

I think Letterboxd is so cool. Great features and all. I should have joined earlier.

Oh I do rate movies but only on MovieMeter. I don't see the point on rating them on imdb any more and to do so on every other movie site I use is too much work that would take me days. If I know what I have seen and what I liked and what not that's enough for me lol.

We are completely different, Johan lol.

I use iCheckMovies, Criticker, IMDB and LetterBoxd to rate stuf lol. I only use IMDb to rate stuff now - I moved all my reviews, lists and check-ins from IMDb to LetterBoxd, and I don't regret it. Its really easy when you can import your ratings to these sites, instead f going through it all again.

But isn't that also because watching movies and the aftermaths (lists, ratings, reviews) is your main (fun) occupation in life? emoticon
There is still so many other things I do to distract myself from the boring side of life but movies they will always have a prominent place in my life emoticon

I enjoy a lot of other stuff too like football, astronomy for example (even more so that the movies tbh) but I agree it is a large part to me

I think rating and listing movies is enjoyable extension to watching then. It is not that time-consuming to be honest, unless you are just lazy, like you emoticon

People do it cause they want to, not cause they have to.

Of course not. I work in the field of ufology and extraterrestrial subjects as part of a technocracy ruled by a shadow government intent on imposing their own view of things on all of us.
