@der is forcing me to watch The Green Mile now, saying it's an essential viewing. Got me thinking of which King movies/shows I haven't seen. Are any of these good for the sci-fi/fantasy challenge, or the October challenge? What are your thoughts on these?

Apt Pupil
Bag of Bones
Dolores Claiborne
Firestarter
Golden Years
Hearts in Atlantis
Kingdom Hospital
The Langoliers
The Mangler
Mr. Mercedes
Nightmares and Dreamscapes
Rose Red
The Stand
Storm of the Century
Trucks

The Green Mile is indeed essential viewing. One of the best movies I've ever seen. A perfect 10.

I've seen Rose Red, The Stand and Storm of the Century but don't remember enough about them to tell you how good they are. I gave all three 7/10 though.

Apt Pupil and Dolores Clairborne are both worthy films but not neither horror nor sci-fi. The Mangler is a fun horror film for the challenge IMO.

Kingdom Hospital and The Stand are good. Langoliers and Mangler are okay.

Golden Years I tried to watch once since it came on a set, but couldn't get into it.

Trucks, much like Maximum Overdrive, is ridiculous. But in less of a fun way and in more of a shitty way.

From this list I've seen Apt Pupil, Firestarter, and The Langoliers. Apt Pupil was really good, but it's definitely not sci-fi and it's kind of questionable as to whether or not it's horror. I thought Firestarter was pretty fun and kind of underrated. The Langoliers I saw as a kid and don't remember it to well. I think it may have been kind of silly.

I've read The Stand and Mr. Mercedes, both really good, but Mr. Mercedes is not sci-fi or horror.

Green Mile's ok, bit schmaltzy but worth watching. From that list I've seen Apt Pupil (like others say it's good but not scifi) The Langoliers (bit dull, Dean Stockwell is a plus) & Golden Years (shit). think i might have seen Firestarter but cant remember too much about it.

I downloaded the Nightmares & Dreamscapes series but haven't watched any yet, got it in my head that they might be aimed at kids... should test one out during this challenge.

Really liked the original The Kingdom/Riget but not seen the one King developed

Am gonna get on Mr Merc after reading comments from people here, both books and series sound interesting

I've seen Rose Red. It's not worth bothering with. Firestarter was okay but very similar to The Fury, which is a far better movie. The rest I haven't seen.

I never finished watching The Green Mile. I avoid anything Tom Hanks is in. There are a handful of people I just cannot tolerate regardless of what type of movie it is, and Tom Hanks is one of them.

I haven't seen a lot of these either, but Apt Pupil and Storm of the Century are two of the best movies made from a Stephen King work. Firestarter is good cheesy fun and The Mangler is so bad it's good. I thought Trucks was better than Max Overdrive without actually being anything special.
